Right? I love the story, yeah. I like the combat, sure. I tolerate the players, kinda.
But the exploration? I’m a SUCKER for exploration, it’s one of the things that made me gravitate towards the Arcane series. The sense that there was always shit out there you could find, that it was rewarded either with hints of lore or actual treasures, and just generally making the world feel alive.

imo the only flaw with wom’s world was that despite the fact it was 1,000 years into the future, everybody still lived like it was 1100 AD.
Would’ve been cool if we got to see like a more victorian (1880s-1910s) world with medieval elements still remaining since magic would change the way civilization would progress.
Although I doubt wars would be was severe as the Seven Seas due to the Magic Council.
Ages of Peace into Total Chaos have always been interesting, because it actually gives a reason for why every military force is incompetent when in comparison to the big bad guy + seeing the collapse of society is just cool to see

if good gear was easier to get and keep up with, Id definitely wait until the game is fully released before playing. I really like exploring a game I know nothing about rather than finding everything out quickly after a small update. But for now I have to play every now and then to make sure im not missing out on a meta (not doing this is what led to me having a 1.14 armor build which was far outdated)

Even with slowed development due to magics, the arcane universe is still quite on par with our world in development
There is a statue is WoM crediting the inventor of electricity and the year it happened, and it’s very close to our own universe’s year, if I recall correctly
With a difference that small, WoM at year 3000 being mediveal or even victorian is extremely unrealistic, as, even with the slowed development, WoM would have likely still gotten everything our current world has by 2100, but probably even earlier
As such, WoM at the time described is much more likely to be a futuristic world

By the start of AO, it’s Y1854.
Y1 = 100 AD, As seen in the Lore Doc.
We are 100 years ahead of the AU, so their 1854 was our 1954.
The War Seas does not have standardized weaponry. Keraxe still uses infantry units from the literal 800s (AD). Ravenna uses Infantry Units from prior to around 100 BC.
The AU is not on par, but given 1,000 years of peacetime to develop, technologies would have eventually emerged.
While yes, you could argue innovation is at it’s peak during War Times, that doesn’t negate the fact that nearly every culture in Magius has a rivalry with eachother. It’d become a cold war of “we can’t kill you cuz of the magic council, but we can have waayyy better shit that you”
Not to forget that Magius still had the remaining greatest minds of the Seven Seas to help them.
Then why tf does everyone in the eastern peninsula live like its 1000 AD. If you have 2100AD tech, how the fuck are you struggling against Vikings who use axes and wear literal leather.
An 1880s-1910s setting is the perfect setting for any fictional world, because it gives you the benefits of “modern” society, but technology isn’t so advanced any threat would be decimated b4 the story even starts. The AG was already on the brink of reaching this period, having electricity and other advanced forms of ships.
I’m literally talking about how current technological picture makes no sense
Hell, for what we’ve seen, the world has not even slightly advanced, the ships have not changed at all, the towns are in fact underdeveloped in comparison
I think vetex just really likes the medieval aesthetic
