You reminded me of one:
my middle school gym teacher kept bugging me because I’d often be late to his class; I had him first period and the car dropoff line was dysfunctional (I’d show up early and be late due to insane street-long line)
He always thought I was late because I walked too slow in the halls (I didn’t), and I literally adjusted my walking speed to be faster so he wouldn’t harass me
Now in high school, it is SO ANNOYING because people walk at .5 mph in the halls and I’m used to walking faster, and people love to form walls of friends that you can’t get around, so I just have to trudge behind them at what feels like snails pace
Btw I hated that gym class, but I think I hated everything in middle school though so idk

I have an RE teacher who took a year to learn our names (I was Young Boy At The Back With Glasses for so long), still sometimes trips up - last lesson she asked me my name near the start and then later stated she knew us all off by heart :sob:

Also one time we were talking about the Islamic angel Azrael and she insisted it was spelt Israel, everyone including Google corrected her, she said “I’ve never seen it spelt like that!” and proceeded not to acknowledge her mistake. Worst part about that particular thing? She is Islamic herself.

On that note sometimes it feels like she’s tryna force that on us all a bit. I’m not islamophobic, but I don’t like the way she makes it her whole personality.

oh yeah I forgot to mention the teacher every student at my old middle school though was a pedo that got exposed for uh… pedo activites that im pretty sure is still working at my old middle school

He’s WHAT

I don’t think I’ll be the same after this post…

Alright including my entire old school system now…

Got threatened to be branded, got groped once, sent swastikas, had them drawn on my desk, recorded without me knowing, had me as a target in a threat to… well, do something to the school I can’t say, stalked me, and bullied me so bad that I am homeschooled for my own safety.

Teachers? Slap on the wrist, scold me for making it a big deal, then two weeks later, it would be worse.

Two teachers actually JOINED IN. One often called me out in gym class so I’d be ridiculed, and my old home Ec. teacher would actively call being LGBT a sin because she knew I am LGBT.

Fun fact: this teacher is actually Sock’s neighbor, who I see whenever I head over. Basically, god hates me.

Abolish the education system

… I’m so sorry that had to happen to you.

Holy. F*cking. Hell.

I genuinely feel so sorry for you mate

lmao yeah shit was crazy I dont know how he isnt locked up, hes a p.e teacher so he gets to watch a bunch of sweaty kids run around all day :sob:

Oh, there’s more.

My ex boyfriend, who became a neo-nazi while dating me, a MALE, made one room so genuinely horrifying and traumatic, I cannot go in my old middle school’s chorus room without breaking down. there’s this trail off of my high school property I got assaulted at and a teacher only scolded the student who was going to crack my skull open on a rock (sorry I never told you about this, sock, you’d actually kill this person)

also I was my middle school’s “feminine enough boy.” I’ll stop there.

long story short, homeschooling? fuckin peak, man.

Not my teacher but apparently there was a guy at my old school who was caught and fired for blasting pornography on the speaker system in the science class they taught :skull:

I feel even more bad for you… hope you’ll do better in the future(and right now ofc)

Sh*tting hell

bro my eyebrows physically cannot stop raising at this post wtf :sob::sob::sob: I dont even know what to say…

I had a really awful English teacher in 10th grade. She was really boring to listen to and was a really nitpicky grader. (By the way, for those of you who don’t live in English-speaking countries, “English Class” is basically a class about literature)

I also just really hate the way symbolism was discussed in that class. I don’t like just saying “the buzzards symbolize something bad and are gross” (buzzards are actually beautiful birds) or “oh the darkness symbolizes something bad”. I didn’t like how arbitrary her explanations for symbolism felt. I like making a point to explain the why behind symbolism because otherwise it’s just arbitrary and irrational bullshit; and while yeah, symbolism is by nature kind of arbitrary and irrational bullshit, there is a reason for the symbolism, whether the author realizes it or not. When explaining symbolism, rather than saying something like “the darkness symbolizes something bad” I would say “the darkness symbolizes something bad because humans associate darkness with danger, since the sense we are most dependent on is out sense of sight, and in darkness we are left without our most valuable way of looking out for danger.”

I also hated how much she liked to focus exclusively on the symbolism of stories and poems. Yeah, symbolism is an aspect of stories, but it’s not the only one. The actual events of the story itself, the historical context, the author’s way of thinking, and message the author is trying to send are all equally, if not more interesting parts of story analysis. Yeah, it’s fun I guess when you realize something about a bit of symbolism, but that doesn’t compare at all to the feeling of having an epiphany about a certain aspect of the story’s lore or thinking about Macbeth, and thinking about other scenarios that the story brings into my mind, such as the fact that my sister who isn’t a man, was born via c-section, and is from a donor egg, would 2 times better at killing Macbeth than the dude who actually killed Macbeth because of the whole think were “no man born of woman” could kill Macbeth.

Overall, this English teacher embodied the worst qualities an English teacher could have.

I must be really petty because I feel smugly satisfied about the times where mythological allusions got brought up and I got to tell everyone about the mythology since I have autism and read most of the books written by Rick Riordan when I was in 4th grade and in middle school (which means I probably know more about these myths than she does). When I did interject about mythology I don’t think I would spend too much class time talking, only like 3 minutes or less, but there were times when she definitely seemed impatient/tired of my explanations. Well guess what [SHITTY ENGLISH TEACHER WHO I WILL NOT SAY THE NAME OF], you made us read a short-story written by Neil Gaimen, no shit I’m going to be talking about mythology.

Overall, I think that woman should not have been hired as an English teacher.

Thankfully, my other 2 high school English teachers were fantastic.

My 9th grade English teacher did a great job at getting us to question our assumptions and think critically about moral dilemmas. We also went over some really great fiction with him, such as The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Things Fall Apart, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

My 11th and 12th grade English teacher is a very lax old man. He may be really awful at using technology, he may be really awful at recognizing when people are using AI, he may be really bad at keeping students from being rowdy due to his failing hearing, but none of those flaws matter jack shit, because he GETS what an English teacher should do. He doesn’t assign much work, and he encourages people to be creative. He’s willing to give good grades for intentional rubric-breaking if that rubric-breaking was done with creativity and intent. One requirement for basically all of the assignments that we turn in in his class is that we give our work a catchy or clever title. In 11th grade, each class he would give us a prompt to write about and recently, in my current grade (12th) he gave all of us little notebooks and has us do a prompt each class, which we can write and draw stuff for. And if we want to write/draw about something other than the given prompt, he allows us to do that too.
