he gave up
oh no
yo challenge the forum to do this challenge to challenge ourselves and carry this manâs legacy
why r u ppl so inclined towards pushups they arent even that beneficial for building muscle.
they r mostly used for maintaining it lol
lmao do bench presses, dead lifts, and chinups to expand the size of ur arms.
(dont do them every day tho or u might injure yourselfâŚplus you lose gains that way⌠muscles need atleast 48 hrs to recover )
Dead lifts donât increase the size of your arms but Deads and Squats are still something you need to do when gaining muscle if you donât want bad joints, a bad back, and muscle tears.
Also push-ups are better at building arm muscle since chin ups donât target biceps, they target triceps while push ups cover bi-ceps. Both are equally important but bi-ceps is the shit you see on buff muscular dudes with comically oversized arms.
Bench and Squat are about 50|50 but in any case youâd need to do both.
I say this after not going to the gym in a month so Iâm pretty bad at it anyways, I could be wrong.
no offense but no man has become ripped from doing just pushupsâŚ
im pretty sure that muscles need to be torn in order to grow over a 48 hr period, and pushups may be effective if you are a beginner, but generally speaking people grow their arms most thru weight lifting after they get used to basic exercises (such as pushups).
also, pushups are not a bicep exercise.
they utilize the pecs and triceps making them semi-good for chest expansion and strength but not so much for muscle growth,
on the other hand, chinups exercise your biceps AND your upper back, letting you get used to pulling your bodyweight above a bar while having the force of gravity at play tooâŚ
eventually after doing chinups you can move on to more advanced weight training, continuing to challenge yourself in order to grow muscle.
if you dont continue to âraise the barâ in your training, then you wont grow very much.
hope this was helpful
I literally said all of them are essential for a workout, deadâs and squats work on lower body, chin ups/pull ups work on upper body+triceps, push-ups and benches work on upper body+biceps.
Doesnât mean they forgot the basics and never do a push-up again, unless theyâre aiming at a specific end goal that doesnât require it.
Micro tears are what need to happen, full on muscle tears are bad.
Never said they were purely a bicep exercise? All I stated was that they do work on biceps a near identical amount to benches when done correctly.
Chin ups donât exercise your biceps, they exercise your triceps, I think you have them mixed, push-ups also exercise your upper and middle back.
Obviously, push-ups raise the bar by increased duration like how planks also go by duration. Also you can consistently do simple exercises like push-upss, benches, deadlifts, squats, planks, chin&pull - ups and gain muscle, fancier exercises donât necessarily mean more gain but keeping the core exercises while consistently increasing weights/duration will help have a healthy workout.
And fyi it would be a bad idea because it targets nothing in the lower body but there are multiple people whoâve gotten 6-packs buff purely off of push ups.
Tl;dr : You need to do a healthy amount of everything
Nvm mixed chin ups with pull ups, point still stands that theyâre about equal(pull ups are triceps, chins are biceps)
Also I forgot to mention I was talking about the multiple types of push-ups, regular push ups obviously push no muscles, only work abs.
yeah like i saidâŚpushups are good for maintaining muscle, not necesarilly growing them unless youre a beginner.
they really start to feel overly simple once you get really good at them, making them pretty much ineffective no matter how many you do.
yeah thats correct, you cant overwork them or youâll lose gains
i mean i think that depends on how much you are lifting, like i said putting on more weight is essential for muscle gain. eventually your arms are able to overcome your bodyweight when doing pushups, rendering them pretty much useless in comparison to lifting heavy weights.
actuallyâŚonce youâre able to do like 2-3 minute planks, there arent much more benefits. dont get me wrong they are a GREAT core workout, but being able to go for a really long time isnt super helpful⌠same goes for pushups as i stated earlier.
thats relative to the type of exercise, body type, weight, and what a person is aiming for. there are too many exercises that aim for specific muscle groups.
increasing duration isnt really beneficial when it comes to planks farther than 2-3 minutes.
not sure if youâre referring to fat or muscles.
if youâre referring to fat, you cant spot reduction.
if youâre reffering to muscles, again its relative to a personâs body type and what they are going for. alsoâŚwho has gotten 6-packs off purely push-ups?
ok so they are called pushups because they push your armsâŚsoâŚ
they dont only work abs, you said they focused on building arm muscles. regular pushups are still good endurance training for your arms, they mostly increase the ability for you to do more reps in other exercises. other types of pushups are mostly just the same thing at a different intensity but that depends on the specific type of pushups.
Thatâs where harder variations of push ups come in like clap behind back push ups, ending up being much more difficult than lifting weights.
Regular push-ups are just worse pull-ups with abs with abs(imo). Variations are where push-ups tend to become better at targeting certain muscles.
Ya they can also change variation while completely targeting different muscles like reverse hand push ups being extremely basic and mundane but working biceps as much as a standard one does of triceps.
Standard push ups are actually working on your pulling muscles which is why I said that, counterintuitive naming tbh.(Well the name pull ups were already taken so idk)
Everything else I agree with/mostly agree with
this goes to show Level will argue about literallly anything pog
Yes
That level is kinda insane not gonna lie.
yeah i mean harder variations of pushups are absolutely better than standard pushups. but i think the point you were trying to make got lost or smth bc now im not even sure what you are trying to say anymore
if you had specified the âmultiple type of pushupsâ earlier on in the first post instead of changing your point, then yeah id agree with you. but i believe your original point was that pushups were better than chin-ups/pull-ups
if you were referring to pull-upsâŚwellâŚthey are much more difficult than push-ups so they are still more effective.
no lmao
either way my point still stands - standard pushups are great for beginners, but not so much for people who are already used to them. eventually you have to increase the difficulty or you wont gain any muscle.
Ya iâve forgotten by now
I still have no likes for some reason
Ur dead
not that hard to not complete this goal
just do like 30 push-ups each day
if the thread stopped rn it would only take 53 days to finish all of them
