Nova had just escaped the order, with severe head trauma, and the only thing she could focus on was protecting the last gift her best friend gave her, before passing out in the sand, losing all her memories, thus making her a new person from what she once was, still holding the last gift.
when she wakes up, she has a sense of familiarity with it and believes it to be important due to how she passed out and risked herself for it, but she doesn’t know why it’s important, but she keeps it with her in her entire journey knowing that her heart does know what it is.
