Me personally, I find games like eu4 to not be “classic” rts.
Starcraft II, for example. If you look at Starcraft II gameplay it’s different from eu4.

Like, if you count fleet combat since the ships do move in real time but lack any disengagement/unit micro.
Like it does “have rts” but you don’t play it for the rts.
Most “classic” are usually focus on “kill the other guy.” Starcraft II? Kill the other guy. Dawn of War? Kill the other guy. Combat is the focus.
Stellaris? eh, not really imo.
eu4 and Stellaris have more going on (economy, diplomacy, ect)
(Stellaris with random galaxies, space empire builds, ect)
(Eu4 with more focus on the workings of the nation per tile(if I remember correctly))
(Starcraft II lacks most of that but has more skill testing combat)
(I do consider Supreme Commander to be “classic” rts despite its scale for example)
Basically, the “rts” genre is kinda diluted imo.
Like Stellaris is more 4x strategy/grand strategy than “classic” rts.
It’s technically an rts but not anything like the classic rts games.
So its rts for autistic people then got it
