Problem

Currently, unlike Arcanium gear, Strength gear cannot be changed to fit the style of the wearer, meaning that strength gear is stuck as whatever style it is attuned to when it was created. As far as I’m aware, this is wholly intentional, and while I understand making strength gear mechanically different from arcanium gear, it is still less adjustable than arcanium gear.

Additionally, I am aware that changing strength gear so that it works like arcanium gear can cause a lot of people to lose out on potential build ideas involving using strength gear attuned to a style they don’t have. As a result, this suggestion will allow fighting gear to change styles in a voluntary manner, as opposed to arcanium’s involuntary transformation.

Proposed Change

Simply put, what if you could change your fighting gear’s attuned style by handing the gear over to a fighting style mentor? You go to them, you ask them to change an armor piece to their style, and a shop menu opens up containing all of the fighting style armor pieces that don’t already have that mentor’s style. This will, of course, cost galleons.

For a lore explanation, rather than the “so easy it happens involuntarily” shift that occurs with arcanium gear, fighting gear needs more active concentration, or some advanced technique, in order to shift its style. I suspect that this is at least a little similar to how enchanters do their thing. People that are skilled enough in their style to teach it to others are thus likely to know this technique, or have some understanding of it.

Optional Nuances

I am unsure as to whether or not this should be limited to trainers of fighting styles the player has equipped. A possible lore explanation for this is that the aforementioned technique requires to people to do properly.
Regardless, if vetex adds this minor caveat (and the worldbuilding details are added along with it), I recommend locking this ability behind a certain level of mastery, so players don’t just switch to a style to change some gear and then switch back without a bit of commitment. I will make a poll on this.

What tier of mastery should this mechanic be locked behind?

  • Apprentice
  • Initiate
  • Adept

Why doesn’t this have any replies? It’s a good suggestion.

ngl this feature would suit npc tailors more

Theory: the fighting style accessories need the body odor of the mentor to convert to their fighting style (basically what the mentor does is put on the accessory and like, I dunno, punch/kick around for a bit)

Good idea lol

isnt that literally impossible in the game
like theres a popup that goes “you dont have that fstyle so you cant use this armor”

my sorry ass going to hell (bronze sea) cause i finally traded for that one piece of gear i really wanted but its the wrong fighting style

I’ll have to check on that later

truly a fate worse than just not being able to use the piece at all

mfw I can’t use my 3 pieces of blasted fs gear because I got them all while I was a mage

I’d rather just have dyers change the strength style, since they already change the colour of gear, and every single style is basically just a different colour

I do agree that it should be changeable

It would be funny if dyers could do that, and would explain why they are so goddamn expensive. Like even enchanters aren’t that expensive, and they’re literally using a special type of magic to permanently alter your equipment
