Introduction

Not sure if anyone else experience this but most often than not, after setting a task for my fleet commanders, I would often get carried away with stuff I’m doing in the game. This would result in having strength, supplies, and food below 50% most of the time, causing fleet ships to dessert. I thought about stuff and came to a conclusion that it’s probably because there’s no display of the fleet’s status at the HUD and if you really wanna monitor your fleet, you’d either have to set up a timer in your pc/phone or constantly press Y to check your fleet’s status.

Pretty much it all comes down to bad game design when there’s a feature with a risk of loss (Such as your fleet ships desserting) but the status of it isn’t available to be seen at all times at the HUD. The HUD is there after all to notify you about important stuff.


Fleet Ship Status In HUD

  • The status of the fleet ship should also be available to be seen at the HUD. To not disturb the other HUDs, it should be placed at the bottom left corner of the screen. An example would be like this:

  • Adding the fleet status at the HUD as well would serve the purpose of the HUD. This should also lessen cases where people forget to check their fleets because of doing stuff in the game since I’m sure this only happens because the status is hidden behind a button rather than being available at all times.

Overall this is just a QoL feature as well as fixing a game design that was overlooked by the developers. It just sucks that I’ll have to either rely on external monitoring apps such as a timer just to not forget about my fleet’s status or constantly check the fleet UI for this.

Eh, personally, I’d rather just have an option for you to get a notification whenever one of the status bars drops or a ship’s durability below a certain amount

That’s certainly possible as well but a notification would most likely be easily overlooked. If it’s a small dot at the ship icon then it’s small enough to not be noticed by the player and if it’s a passing notification, the same as well. You can see examples of players overlooking this, such as when you message or trade with someone in the game, more often would they not notice it unless you’re in front to talk to them.

Which is why I came to a conclusion that a fleet status bar available at the HUD at all times is the best option out of all things.

I do like this, but also I would just do away with desertion entirely and it seems like the more logical conclusion. Like damn, I don’t have a gun to my fleet guys heads telling them they cant take a break if they need to.

Dessertion is probably a punishment for not monitoring an already overpowered feature.

Its an overpunishment. Strength should just reduce effectiveness at certain thresholds until the fleet stops bringing in anything at critical strength. Way more logical than “you forgot for 10 minutes? Fuck you, 40 ships left, eat shit.”
