After sitting on this idea for far longer than I care to admit, I’ve decided it’s finally time to make a master post on my main file Sif Pollux.
Backstory
- Early Life
- Sif Pollux, more than anything, wanted to be a Light-Singer. Sure there were other things he may have done in his life, such as taking up his parents Edwynn and Serena’s business. His parents were textile merchants who ran a material farm with all different types of crops and many sheep. However, while Sif enjoyed taking care of the sheep it wasn’t his passion. Sif had magic, and he was exceptional at it, going into town every chance he could to learn from those other light users how to use his magic to weave incredible stories.
- Sif’s older brother Alex, while not understanding his passion for stories, was still supportive of his craft, as were Sif’s parents. Overall Sif’s childhood looked to be nothing but an upward progression towards his goal. That was until he was abducted by the Order of Aesir, and placed in the Psychopomps Initiative.
- The Psychopomps Initiative
- When Sif was sixteen he was abruptly stolen from his comfortable life, and thrown into a world of horror and torture at the hands of The Order of Aesir.
- It was during this time he met Morden, Tucker, and Persephone.
- The initiative was a program developed by a high ranking member of the Order, one Agamemnon (real name unknown). A “scientist” with a god complex bigger than Magius and the ethics of an Assassin Maestro. It was this man who trained Sif into what The Order called Psychopomps.
- A Psychopomp is a figure in Greek Mythology who brings souls from the mortal world to the underworld. Examples being Hermes and Thanatos.
- The Psychopomps were The Order’s elite Curse killers. Their sole purpose being the extraction and containment of Sea Curses all over the Warseas. Sif was one of these four; given the name Achilles. The other three were Thanatos (Morden), Hermes (Tucker), and Persephone (N/A).
- As a result of this training Sif develops a brutal fighting style focused on inflicting pain and limiting mobility. Using his dual swords to sever tendons impact vital organs, and other such unpleasantness.
- One of the “enhancements” the Psychopomps underwent was the transmutation of their skeletal structure into arcanium. Allowing for increased durability, a faster healing rate (when charging magical energy their bone marrow production is stimulated allowing for faster regeneration of cells,) and it allowed Agamemnon to be able to puppet his soldiers around by channeling his magic through their bones. E
- Eventually after two tortuous years, fighting for their lives. Three of the four manage to escape the facility where they were held. Persephone stayed behind in hopes of sparing the others, and Tucker lost his life during their voyage to the Bronze Sea.
- During this escape, Sif or Achilles at this point falls overboard and meets The Protector. A large serpentine creature who offers his comfort to Sif in exchange that Sif fights against The Order. However due to how damaged his mind is at this point, the only way The Protector can comfort Sif is by removing the memories of his past. This is when Sif wakes up on Dawn Island, with no memory of the Psychopomps or even who he is.
- When Sif was sixteen he was abruptly stolen from his comfortable life, and thrown into a world of horror and torture at the hands of The Order of Aesir.
- Arcane Odyssey
- Basically the same events as shown in the game, except that Sif joins up with the Navy and rises to the rank of Captain in less than a year.
