I lost 150k renown today since my entire internet provider died while I was fighting a lvl 18 NPC.

idk man sounds like you unwisely decided to fight an overly powerful enemy then attempted to avoid punishment by leaving the game to me
as a fellow PVE player, I’d be terrified to be in the leaderboards, I get way too scared when people hunt me for some reason.

I’ve been on the leaderboard in two different circumstances: accidentally getting on because I managed to get renown a bit faster than most people, and actually trying to get renown for deckhands which also then involved getting on the leaderboard.
When it was accidental, I didn’t really care too much because I knew it wouldn’t last very long and I hadn’t really done much (except maybe the first time since I gained renown faster than almost 70 thousand people in order to get there).
When on the leaderboard intentionally I was a bit too busy being extremely paranoid because that was at the height of being hunted for me and almost everyone with a bounty was a potential threat and since I don’t do pvp I would really not be able to fight any of them.
I haven’t actually ever got higher than legendary hero because of this but at least I can say that I got on the leaderboard 4 times with only pve. (along with being on the leaderboard about 2 days after AO released)

The pain of bounty hunters was only eased by love gels
Anyways I can’t keep even 200k bounty nowadays due to crash logging
This is why each seas should be 100ⅹ their current size (including island&city space) all while having completely randomised spawns.
Paranoia is high up on the list of worst feelings to have, let’s stop people from feeling it in a game made to entertain.
I would like to point out that the deckhand update completely solved this issue for me, since I didn’t have to care about renown anymore
The deckhand update was so very much needed. Now everyone can enjoy the glory of having a couple of Individuals following them everywhere they go
