Made this because I’m bored and because I scored a 101-0 kill streak in Retrostudio’s SFOTH
Explanation (Down to Up)
Ice Dagger & Friends
Ice Dagger
Only sword type that can be completely neutralized when going against somebody with another sword (Firebrand). Also has a two-second thaw time before it can kill. Sure, it gets guaranteed OHKOs on non-Firebrand-protected hits, but every other sword can kill super quickly if you just graze somebody with them.
Linked Sword
It’s the default sword. No gimmicks attached, no immunity, no nothing. Still better than the Ice Dagger purely because it can’t be disabled by a maroon greatsword.
C
Windforce
If it weren’t for the fact that swords can kill in less than a second in optimal conditions, the Windforce’s ability to throw people across a county’s worth of size on a lunge would’ve been A-tier.
Jet Boots
Eight seconds of slowly rising upward? Just grab an Illumina and Ghostwalker, then lunge like you’ve never lunged before to go up faster while also being able to net kills.
B
Medkit
Mostly useful for when you’ve been hit by a Venomshank and aren’t near a healing pad. It takes a bit to work, though, and if you aren’t in a Venomshank-infested area, you may as well use the Touchstone to go to the Safe Zone on demand.
Forcefield Orb
It’d probably be better if you weren’t visible while the forcefield was active. Still great to have on standby, and it’s instant, so you can get away from a bad situation safely.
Darkheart
The Darkheart’s fine; lifesteal can be great if you’re trying to ambush multiple people at once and if you haven’t gotten the Touchstone, but there’s better swords for attacking people in groups.
Shadow Sphere
It’s like maxed Ghostwalker, but it hides your face too. Only in B-tier because it has a pretty lengthy cooldown and taking out a sword forces you out of invisibility.
A
Venomshank
If you don’t kill someone, the venom probably will. The extra range it has is good for getting hits that don’t quite kill, but also don’t leave you open to getting one-shot by any sword swing.
Illumina
The lunge is an actual lunge that propels you upward (in Retrostudio, last time I played) or upward/forward (in on-site SFOTH, last time I checked), so it’s already goated there. It also forces sparkles on any player in range, which can be helpful for finding those annoying Ghostwalker or Shadow Sphere users, but it’s not that useful in most cases.
Firebrand
Literally the only sword that can completely shut down another one, on top of having the Venomshank’s extra reach.
S
Battle Armor
It doubles your max HP, so a lot of situations that are usually swift kills become a bit more survivable. Fun fact: When I was a little kid, I thought the Battle Armor actually halved your current HP and did nothing to your max HP. In my defense, the Battle Armor texts were either not present or were broken in games it was in.
Touchstone
Basically hitting ALT + F4 on encounters you don’t want to be in, along with completely invalidating falling off the map.
Ghostwalker
Ghostwalker
I know I typed Ghostwalker twice, just let me be funny please.
One of the only swords to have multiple gimmicks, and they just so happen to be completely overpowered compared to the other ones. Lowered player gravity when out is okay on its own, but when combined with the Illumina’s lunge, it effectively acts as a form of fast-travel and lets you stay in the air almost forever. It’s also the one sword that has a form of progression, as it makes you more and more transparent as you get kills with it, until you become completely invisible (aside from your face). You basically become an invisible death bubble.
