Proposal

Enemies that become invincible behind a wall or terrain due to line of sight (Fort NPC’s, some bosses…) Now take reduced dmg instead depending on the distance of the wall that’s blocking them.

If they’re sitting inside a small crater, then they would take say half the usual dmg. This is because the distance between the (blast explosion) and where they are is miniscule.

On the other hand, if you’re hitting Merlot from all the way outside his hideout, then he has say 95% resistance, because the distance from your explosion to all the way inside the cave is huge. Same thing with Maria’s boat.

Reason to add/change

These guys are aids to fight with terrain destruction. If some dumb npc gets stuck somewhere it really isnt the player’s fault. And the agonizingly slow method of cheesing should discourage this behaviour as it is not an effective way to beat them

I don’t think it’s possible to do this as a simple chance since the current system is just “Can you directly see the enemy? Y/N” and I doubt vetex would bother fixing a simple yet faulty system

I have no idea how likely it is, that that change would be make, or if it can be made, but it’d be fairly nice to have.

yes

better yet make it go both ways to where the npcs do less to us through walls :innocent: (won’t ever happen)

Yep, fair enough. When I went over this mechanic in my suggestion, I kinda forgot Merlot and Maria had it. A damage res is a better way out
