been a long while since the last episode, progress was going steady for the first few days, feeling pumped after the anniversary to keep going, when life and things come up at home, with a project that’s gone on as long as this i guess something was bound to stir the pot (and spill it all over the floor)
i dont want to go on a whole personal blurb about it, but it was enough to stun me for two whole months (man), consider it as a sort of vacation??
good thing is that im back, doing alright enough to get this done as soon as i could, and im feeling a lot better now to keep going!
if you’ve been waiting this long, i’m so sorry for leaving it all in the dark like that, i’ll have to think of a way to make it up to you somehow, and a million thanks for sticking around as long as you have!
LET’S GOOO PEAK HAS RETURNED!!! you definitely deserved a break after the 5 year anniversary. shame that it sounds like it didn’t come with the best circumstances, but glad to hear you’re doing better at the very least
Rebecca using her divine gift of foresight to rizz up an attention-starved maid is craazzyyyy But I’ve actually found myself really enjoying Rebecca more now, she now seems to live by the mantra of gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss
man one thing that I really love about the webcomic is the way it shows a variety of different uses for magic, I would’ve never thought plant magic could look anything other than “alive”
MAN I’m scared for Landon, all of his dialogue is screaming death flags. I know Vetex said he dies by chaos but him dying in this conflict would actually way more of a narratively satisfying death for him
What’s the type of irony where you know something that the characters don’t, and then when that information is revealed to them, you have this intense feeling of “I TOLD you, I TOLD you so” while simultaneously wanting to cry into a pillow and squeal with excitement?
The webcomic intermittently places vital-off action character development, scene setting, and (for lack of better word) ‘dumping’ vital information dumping for readers, from hardcore action. I think its incredibly important as a lot of contemporary (read: 2020 and onward) focus a lot on just plain old action, keeping viewers hooked at all times in but failing to provide a real good story (ever seen an awesome movie but then when you reflect on it you realize it was not a good movie because (for example) you didn’t think character motivations were clear? like that). This comic does the opposite of that, every frame is meaningful and contributes to the characters or the story; each non-action piece is actually essential. Plus, the longer they are the more insane the final showdowns are (as Trollus tends to pace it as ‘‘the calm before the storm’’)
If you were a big fan of AA you will very much enjoy the next couple of chapters (10ish) as it is very original AA lore-focused, and I think that should instill enough faith for the rest of the webcomic, because when I say this author knows what they are doing, they know what they are doing; quite a good masterclass in pacing, character/character growth and developing, handling multiple plots, etc. It is rare for a piece of media, especially nowadays, to be so masterfully pieced together as this one is.
AGHH the spirit scene hurt me, I really like them and had delulued myself into thinking they weren’t a Durza spirit even tho Sheep literally subtly confirmed it years ago
I’ve said this before but I unironically like the webcomic chapters where it’s just characters yapping more than action chapters. Don’t get me wrong, as you can tell by my extremely long comment above over this chapter I still get HYPED by these action-packed ones, but the character-driven parts give me so much more to chew on and think about
I love the Rotten’s design! We don’t really see much weapon users outside of maybe Thorne, and it was refreshing to see one so glorious, he’s basically wielding a lightsaber.
