Ability to ignore "new" topics from categories you aren't interested in

As somebody who uses these forums daily, I use the “new” selection you can find at the bottom of any topic while you’re in it to jump around to well, new and updated topics.

Unfortunately, most “new” topics end up being under the trading and guilds categories, of which I never respond to because I’m currently not interested in either.

I would like a way to be able to hide new topics from specific categories that I’m not interested in without having to mark them as read so that I don’t have to surf through all the new topics, then dismiss new when all that’s left is guilds and trades.

You can already do that by checking your forum preferences under categories. Or you can mute that category to not see topics from its category page.

I didn’t know about this! How do you do it?

You can either :

Click your profile picture in the upper right corner, click your username, click Preferences then click the Categories section under Notifications and make changes there.
or
Go on each category you want to mute and click the bell icon in the upper right corner, under your profile picture and pick whatever option you want.

@Kitty_Cushion I recommend muting guild recruitment and marketplace, but follow what they instructed as it leads ya to this part

It’s also worth pointing out that you need to mute #Guilds:guild-recruitment, not #Guilds. Muting the top category doesn’t actually do anything because nobody can post in it.
