About the no PVP server shenanigans

I know that vetex has declined making pvp disabled servers. However, what if instead of making a Pvp disabled servers, we make a server were pvp is strongly discouraged?

Basically, there will be 2 types of servers, able to be seen in the server list. They will be Primary servers and Seconday servers.

In primary servers, Players will have a passive + 50% increase to drop rates and spawn rates, while also gaining 2x as much renown and infamy. Basically, if a boss drop has a 10% chance of dropping in Primary servers it will have 15%, and chests will spawn 50% more often, and respawn 50% faster. Hunting in primary servers will reduce the victim’s renown by the same amount, the amount gained by the hunter is simply increased.

In Secondary servers, the game will basically be the same as it currently is.

This way, gankers will be strongly encouraged to play in Primary servers, while Pve stans will have the choice to have worse rates in secondary servers, or take the risk and go in primary servers.

This is not a suggestion - I dont have the suggestion role (I think I might have hallucinated applying tbh it’s been almost a week). I just want to hear what the commmunity thinks of this idea.

Instead of buffing normal servers just nerf pve ones
Or just yknow, run like pve players normally do

the reason pvp thrives in arcane odyssey is specifically because so many people don’t want to. get used to it.

i would like increased combat visibility and better bounty tracking, personally. you lose almost nothing when you die, you can log, and you won’t need renown for the deckhand rework, so Renown ultimately becomes a showy value.

the very farthest I’d go is adding slight protection on boss fights

thats the entire point of reknown
it is a PvP statistic. it being tied to anything gameplay will lead to the situation deckhands just escaped

yeah since killing someone when they have 100 health during a calvus kill is BS
make whatever boss you gank someone during hunt them across the entire server

and thats a bad thing
(sorry for tripple reply I forgot you can quote mutiple times in one message)

it shouldnt be such a big deal because the potential losses for dying are so infinitesimally small unless you’re a high renown player

try not gaining renown for 1 hour when you are at under 100k. i dare you. this shows how tied renown is to the game

im saying it’s a good thing they’re not tied to deckhands, lol, think you misunderstood

not a bad thing, just the majority of people seem to want to play build simulator… unpredictability of PvP is very fun to me, personally.

the most “ties” renown has to the game is:

  • whether an npc wants you dead
  • whether 7 navy npcs will chase you every 5 minutes
  • whether you’re on the leaderboard
  • how nice you look to attack, conversely how intimidating.

removing the renown requirements for deckhands is a very good change.

also, like Namaii said, you kind of lose virtually nothing in this game if you’re PvP killed, unless you’re intentionally farming renown, and at that point you’re very aware people may attack you

Yeah I think it’s good that they aren’t tied to deckhands now.

Although, it will probably be annoying since you get renown for literally everything and you’ll have to clear it if you don’t want to be hunted.

im kinda confused on how to get fame since I’ve never tried tbh, but surely it’s not that much passively? the most I can think of earning is from rival/crim bounty hunting, but at that rate you’re intentionally gaining renown, xd. ive been in servers were 90% of ppl have <50k fame at lv125

Random thing such as rival hunting for treasure charts, sinking pirate ships and castaways all give fame. All of the quests give fame too.
If you aren’t too focued on fame but still grind the game, you’d probably get around 20k (?) a week.

Just depends on your activities. I had a 180k fame slot which I wiped and gained ~80k in less than a week without trying to gain fame at all. Siren rocks give a comical amount of fame

it’s like less than saving a castaway and sirens, like almost all the unique things, stop giving fame past 100k

or have any “reasonable” ammount bounty

only applies to half of the leaderboards*

everyone is a target if you have metal mage + surge + gale gel

me who was bounty being forced to sit somewhere for 10 minutes as I wait through what is basically a unskippable cutscene

applies to everyone with a handful of bounty*. notoriety is a thorn in my side even at 200k bounty, and I’m far from leaderboards.

odd cherrypick that doesn’t actually address the point, i doubt the 1.2m bounty metal mage is going after 80k fame you for bounty

wat

I have less then 50k and it is annoying

probally should have put <insert meta build here> instead of the metal mage but you get the idea

executions. if there is no bounty player in the server (or none that you can trust)
it might as well be a 10 minute unskippable cutscene
