Description
This would add a new sea monster to the Far Reaches of the Dark Sea. This giant crustation would be the size of a Far Reaches island. It uses a randomly generated circular island as its shell. The Gargantuan Island will always have a cave in the middle of its shell, which is the only way to damage it.
Spawn
The crab will spawn randomly in the far reaches (the server starts with two). There can only be two crabs at a time, and no new crabs can be spawned unless one is killed.
Behavior/fight
The crab moves slowly through the water until it finds a ship. Then, it walks towards it and tries to sink it with its claws. The crab will lose concentration when a player is on it, and will instead try and scratch them off like flies. If the player is able to dodge the claws, they will get an opening to go to the center of the island, go down the cave, and get to the crab’s flesh to do damage. After a certain amount of time where a player is in the crab shell’s cavity, the crab will shake them off, sending them flying (in which case they will get back on their ship and try to get on the crab ASAP). Once the crab gets to half health, it will roar, knocking back all ships in the area, and instead of scratching players off, it will use the ocean’s magic pollution to manipulate the shell’s environment. This attack depends on the biome the shell is.
Second phase attacks

  • desert: makes round cacti that will explode with spine shrapnel when a player is near or when attacked.
  • tundra: lower’s the player’s temperature on the island to zero and make pine spikes on the ground.
  • glacier: will deal damage to the player due to a blizzard and occasionally freeze them (if not in the cavity)
  • forest biomes(includes autumn and savannah): grows sharp, leafless trees that will impale the player
  • coral field: covers the ground in coral, which will make the player bleed heavily if they walk on it
  • mushroom forest: covers the shell with poisonous mushrooms which emit poison fumes when stepped on/attacked
  • ruins: summons ghosts which will try to attack the player
  • metal forest: rains heavy metal projectiles from the sky
  • poison forest: spawns more giant urchins
  • crystal field: grows crystal spikes which give the player the crystal effect and deal damage
  • treasure island: the crab does not stop scratching, but this time they cover their claws in gold and deal more damage
  • rocky mesa: since these islands are not a singular island, crabs will not spawn with this biome

Rewards
On death, the gargantuan crab will sink, reverting the island to just an island and spawning a treasure patch like the ones found in Fort Castrum that will give players gold chests with the modifier of the island that the crab used.
Other stuff
The gargantuan crab will have a lot of health and deal a lot of damage (just in case people were wondering)
This is the abyssal tier because that’s the tier for planned dark sea-only monsters
You will also be able do damage the crab slightly with explosive shells

I feel like the rewards should be changed because modified chests seem kind of lame but other than that it’s good :+1:

Can we damage it with ships?

Explosion shells would make sense to penetrate the shell and deal some damage, but the best option would be the cavity (I updated the other stuff category)

ykw I’ll change it to modified chests but it gives you higher chance for dark sea gear

Me about to stay on the island and bombard the crab with heavy explosives + cfist:

This is absolutely way too much and I never see it being added.

That said, it’s too metal for me to have any feelings but admiration.

Sounds like it could be fun as long as getting flung off the crab is truly an immediate ship teleport, and not praying you land on your boat.

Although this would be pretty hard to implement, it would be a really nice and lively addition to the dark sea update after nimbus is done.
