Also I think you skipped some stages in the mutation progress because I’d feel like if you have those mutations you already would be an atlantean

I haven’t really thought about how this dubious little creature didn’t go full atlantean since he does also have a tentacle arm
So plot armor until you figure out the lore
not plot armour he simply built different and too silly to care
I mean the mc is the son of zeus and he is named ace storm so uhh I could just go with him being half god
maybe morden or iris got through to him somehow or something
Give him a sea curse. It works every time you want a character in the AU a unique ability/feature.

Restricting his ability to swim is kinda uhh yeah not ideal
Experimental curses:
I have, no knowlegde to what an experimental curse is, just that it’s spirit based rather than magic
that’s pretty much what they are, they just have effects other than turning into and controlling an element
