I understand the general basics, such as adding a crew and lanterns, yada yada. However, I have been completely unable to find any place that sells stuff like rams and other slot additions. Can’t find any chests either. Does anyone know where I can find these things?
You can obtain blueprints for ship parts (such as rams, hull armor, sail cloth etc) by turning in Sealed Chests at shipwright NPCs. Once you get a blueprint, take it to a builder NPC and they’ll build it for you, after that you can equip it from your shipyard
Sealed chests will give you ship upgrade blueprints, which includes anything from rams, rigging, armor, etc.
To get sealed chests? I’ve found that treasure charts are a pretty consistent way. If you get a treasure chart and go to find the treasure, it pretty much always contains one sealed chests at the burial location. Sometimes the treasure can be a pain in the ass to find tho, especially if it’s on a large island and the clues are vague. Bring a shovel with you too, otherwise you won’t be able to dig it up.
Anyways, once you get your hands on a sealed chest, you need to bring it back to a shipwright to open it. Which will give you the blueprint. Then, you take that blueprint to a builder, which will give you the actual upgrade.
Yeah, it’s a tad bit tedious, But it’s not too bad. Just: Get treasure chart > Find treasure > grab sealed chest > bring chest to shipwright to get blueprint > bring blueprint to builder > pay x amount of galleons > get upgrade item.
guess ill add that sinking ships is a much faster way to get sealed chests, as every ship can give between 1 and 3, and sinking ships gets easier the more sealed chests you turn in and the more parts you build
oh and sinking involves shooting it down with cannons until youve dealt minimum 80% of the ship’s health or so then killing the crew. you cant skip the first step
