After full release how is PvP for people now?

I was wondering what it’s like for people who like to PvP now with the PvP toggle, since on one hand now players can actually progress through the story without having to worry about people spawn camping them, but at the same time now people can’t easily kill random people they come across.

Additionally I wanted to ask people who rather do PvE activities if this has made it easier to enjoy completing those activities in peace?

(Also yes I know that there’s a game discussion PvP category but I also want to know people’s opinions on it that are more PvE focused as well)

Just to add my opinion I think that it has helped retain a better player base and it also helps with onboarding for new players, since what kind of new player would want to play a game where you can get spawn camped at bosses?

I’m also curious to hear Misinput’s opinion since I’m pretty sure that I saw some posts where they were against something like this, but I’ve only ever seen them in PvE focused servers fishing, instead of y’know, fighting other players.

it got worse

Okay… could you please explain your thoughts a bit more?

there was at some point an era whereby an attack speed build could compete against an attack size build as long as the gap in skill was wide enough, and being able to actually aim mattered a lot more!

no0w? it really is just a DPS contest. PVP and PVE might as well be the same thing atsp

that’s not to say it’s impossible to enjoy PVP nowadays, just that any amount of skill is easily trumped by the average power maxxing build

That’s about balance…

Not about the PvP toggle.

This is a positive change, especially with the introduction of arena. It makes it more likely that a player will get to the point where they would decide they want to engage in PvP and play arena since getting to a point where you can actually have fun with PvP is very dependent on PvE when gear is such an integral part of it

those people can go cry about it and go back to deepwoken or smth idk

I mean, I honestly didn’t get ganked that much pre FR so I don’t think it was a huge difference, but it’s still nice to have this because getting ganked even once can really spoil your mood

the pvp toggle is an absolute lifesaver

arena on the other hand is misery

how can i (a guy with zero player kills on that file who’s never been in arena) get paired with john omen slayer with 8,000 player kills and your typical 500 damage meta build

ive had a lot of experiences with getting ganked so in my opinion pvp toggle is a godsend and i love it

as for arena/matchmaking, i also think its great for performance and it is fun, but the regions are kinda dreadful (which is mainly just a player count issue honestly). i think some sorta adjustment to elo gain/loss based on region would be cool

The one thing I can think of which would help PvP players have PvP without being in a clan server, would be implementing some sort of option to join clan servers without being in a clan or PvP servers that are essentially clan servers, but mainly without the clan related stuff.

But at the same time there’s probably a lot less PvP players compared to PvE players, so investing time into this would probably be a waste of time in the grand scheme of things.

The ‘but’ suggests this is bad, somehow?

It’s only bad for the small handful of people who think it’s a problem.

arena is fun as long as you play spars and not competitive (why would you ever play competitive anyway)

I tried both and got the exact same result

I really used to hate PvP but now since I turned it off and focused on PvE I can finally play a quality game with some serious balancing problems but guess it just happends
