I agree, if somebody uses AI to supplement stuff that they don’t know how to do and learn how to do it themselves, that’s just plain beneficial.
I’m eager to see that in practice in indie games and such, because it can only amplify the piece.

think about a river carving out a canyon, like it’s not ‘alive’ but it still shapes something cool. same with AI: it doesn’t feel creativity the way we do, but it can still make things that are new and meaningful

welp depends what you expect it to be used for in this sector, what I do feel would be an ethical is using it to rid devs of more tedious tasks, but that’s as long as it doesn’t replace anyone in the workplace

the river does that itself; AI is unable to generate images on its own, it can’t do anything outside of what it rips from reference images

No you haven’t. AI art programs are designed to watch and learn, they can’t create original concepts.

I think it depends on the size of the production. If it’s a big game studio then they’ll have some CEOs sitting in their chairs hiring other people to do it, no matter what tools they use. If it’s a one-man dev team, it might be hard to hire somebody, and using a small amount of programming knowledge and AI help could make something great that would otherwise never happen.

I literally just slid AI a picture of neviro and told him to create me that dude. AI got creative and gave em a battle-ready pose and put him in a dark space. besides all of the other creatives features neviro has in the image that aren’t necessarily in his original design

also you’re absolutely wrong. AI arts CAN create original concepts, while they DO learn from existing data, they don’t simply replicate what theyve seen (as I have mentioned long before time had a name). they generate new images by combining patterns, styles, ideas etc etc in ways that haven’t been directly seen before

yall just classify it as theft and call it a day
