Alchemist in PvP — Arcane Odyssey

As I had obviously noticed, potion brewing buffs the user or gives them a certain utility depending on the catalys. These can, I’m still uncertain if this method is viable though in my alt account it was op, be used during a PvP.

For example, offensive potions such as thunder crystals, if brewed correctly, produces lightning bolts, which deals massive damage and paralyzes the target. Another one is harming potions, which can be brewed as gel or burst potion to consecutively deal, low but if stacked, high amount of damage. Some potions can also cause corroding, melting, and even creates magma puddles.

On the other hand, potions can also be used as pure utility, like flying or creating whirpools, or smoke potions, iron skin, invisibility, clearsight, revealing, blinding, and love potions, so on and so forth. These kind of things are major buffs and if used correctly/skillfuly can cause massive impact during pvp. Imagine jumping high on to the sky, or instant teleportations, and creating whirpools. Or sometimes, even prevents enemies due to confusion or love potions. There are still many ways to utilize potions in pvp as “support” to the main pvp usage, however there are too many to cite.

Also I forgot to mention you can freeze or create ice flatforms on the sea during sea battles. You can also use healing, poisoned, and knockback. And revealing potions are like wallhacks T _ T.

What I found most op though is the status effect and damage it can inflict: thunderbolts alone causes over a few hundreds of damage, petrify is an op stun like frozen which can all be inflicted using potions, magma puddles, burning, corroding, bleeding, harming, etcc…

Fun fact, you can use insanity potions to cause havoc upon your enemy, although it is impossible to copy the damage from insanity 4/5.

The drawback is that u need to have fast mental thinking, logical thinking and fast hand to properly use the alchemist “class” potential. Also, finding other catalyst are hard such as high tier potions like dark sea diamond and tears of gaia, although thunder crystals are easy to find, which is I think your main source of damage. Finding such catalyst and reagents take tons of time and efforts. Also it is a bit hassle seaeching the inventory whike fighting, although you can freeze the enemy for a while.(There are still other potion effects I did not mention but are very useful and indispensible.)

What is your thought about this??? Or am I missing something.

Always thought so.

Enizor didn’t join the battle because it would have been too easy then.

Alchemist on top.

You can almost access all status effects with potion brewing, and if it really is viable, you can go light paladin to avoid negative interactions with your potions. Also the stats given by light arc armors are suited for alchemist.

But then why would you waste time when you coulf literally just do the most convenient…though boring classes

wait it summons LIGHTNING STRIKES???
I THOUGHT IT ONLY PARALYSED THE TARGET, NOT DO 500 DAMAGE
im getting ancient lightning flashbacks from dark sea

you forgot 1 thing, probably the most obvious of all
power potion/slowness gel

keep it in your hotbar

thats a problem alot of alchemists have in pvp; its too expensive to be efficiently viable
im an item hoarder, if i find something for free, it goes into my inventory, if i find something that takes a long time to find, you bet it’s staying there for all eternity
i cant decide when to use the potions, because i’d think ‘is it really worth it?’ because it takes such a long(er) time to aqquire them

sure, i use canon fist and spam heavy exploding shells, but normally i’d use heavy ones and even then heavy explodies are easy to come by, when guns still used bullets id often only use normal bullets and save the rest because theyre so difficult to come by, always resulting in them piling up and me not doing anything with them

another problem: launch distance
say you have a harming greatburst, you want to throw it at the enemy, dont you?
how far do you think it’s going to be thrown? the same distance as a bow lmb? maybe even a musket shot?

nope! you can barely reach half of ellius’ arena if you throw it directly, even then, the projectile speed is slow
like really slow
slower than a metal pulsar
and did i forget to mention the endlag? theres at least like 0.5 seconds of endlag WITH 80+ attack speed!

@Flare has a file where he only ever used/uses potion, no abilities used at all, he/she even pvped with it I think

Yes, high tier electric potion, like thunder crystal which is easy to come by can summon lightning bolt upon explosion. Also, your main reageant should be sunken element, though this may sound rare, it is actually very easy to find. I personally experienced this, using treasurer collector’s rod. I reeled more like 5 sunken elements for like 10 mins, I think. Sunken element as reageant ensures that, unlike pinecones, both normal and sky, will only explode upon direct contact, with large aoe.

And if you have perfect brewing skills, which as an alchemist class, you should have, the potency is multiplied.

About the speed, I experimented this already and by throwing normal insanity burst potion, the endlag is not really much to complain especially taking into account the effects potions can inflict.

And yes, potions can damage enemy greatly if used appropriately. You can blind them, or escape easily. A star coral 5 thunder crystal potion lightning bolt deals 130 damage, and that is with the lowest brewing skill

and it is true that alchemist “class” is expensive, you can just use 10 tier 1 catalyst, resulting to a level 3 potions, also considered to be a boundary high tier.

Being an alchemist also makes you indecisive if using such rare material will be worth it, which I also experience a lot.

But overall, an alchemist can be unpredictable and most of all status effect exploiter. Though the problem is, with the low people actually interested in such gameplay, it us hard to prove if this “class” is truly playable.

Although think about it, using frozen potion, desert potion, and lightning potion consecutively, with approximately 2-3 seconds as endlag in total, this can lead to over 400 damage alone, being a common potion to come by

though maybe it was my lucky day since I caught 2 sunken item at the same hour

Here me out

When using for offense I use normal bursts and always invest 10 t1 materials into it
And my brewing skill is perfect

A problem I have is that the power stat doesn’t increase its damage done
Also, 400 damage in 2 seconds? That’s decent considering the aoe (I’m savant build, my aoe is trash)
