so for instance, you have an active ability for digging up treasure with your crew if you have a certain amount of expertise in treasure hunting

making it so its less tedious and it also gives a reason to be attached to your crew

it will probably make it so solo players feel slightly less lonely too lol

well the current active abilities (in my post) shouldnt require any training except maybe repair
hide and shoot are both basic functions anyone knows
load/unload/seize is just carrying boxes
repair is just smacking the ship w/ the hammer (every crew mate should know the basics of how a ship works)

the only ability that might be have a req would be repair and maybe that requires a certain amt of repairing or a carpenter on board

repairing should be more effective while docked than at sea if you’re asking any changes regarding that

the idea of taking ur crew out to treasure hunt is rlly cool but again dynamic npcs : (
would alleviate the issues of treasure hunting and how sometimes you just can’t find the chest

it only works while you’re in range

therefore can it really be considered dynamic

imo repair capabilites either removed in combat or slowed down
would make sense cus u wont be as good at repairing when under stress (the 2,000,000 bounty meta mage chasing you)
also make it so u can collect wood for real to repair ur ship

to me the dynamic stuff is just npcs doing things across the map even when there’s no reason for them to

its like the question of there being a noise when a tree falls over in a forest
but nobody hears it

was there a noise or not

overall it shouldn’t matter because nobody was around to hear it

same for npcs
if they’re out of view/out of proximity or a combination of both

what they do shouldn’t really matter and so they’re either unloaded or passive things happen instead

ehhh im pretty sure vetex doesnt want much npc movement unlike in wom b/c of performance
even if they were unloaded i still had pretty mid fps in 2 player population servers so idk (in wom)

idek if the npcs are unloaded in wom at all at any time

it feels like they’re all just loaded in at once sometimes

to my basic understanding, the dynamic npcs are npcs that do shit even when they shouldn’t as nobody is there to see them

vetex should really go into more detail on the unloading and stuff in wom

im not 100% sure what dynamic entails im just assuming any npc movement (pathfinding)/complex interactions are discouraged

some people in the suggestions are askin’ us to talk about how the different types of set roles in crew would work together with my suggestion

well easiest answer would be that morale affects efficiency of the crew members
b/c crew members such as barrelman and nurse arent necessary and commonly used, i dont think itd be too detrimental to reduce their efficiency (ex: fog reduction reduced, failed surgery odds increased)

also should amplify the effects of insanity on the efficiency of crew mates, would make dark seas feel more like an “expedition” in which u have to prepare for.

as for insanity effects on crew mates, yeah that does sound interesting

also failed surgery sounds brutal like “yeah i just botched the operation”
