Its my first time playing the Full Release story and i’m… Kind of surprised. And in a good way! And though the story itself basically went on a lower level than it was in the Bronze Sea, it is still acceptable. Though i’m now stuck on Allanon, and all I gotta say is… Its so fucking busted. And I ABSOLUTELY love it!!!
This is one of those bossfights where you actually feel like you are fighting a serious foe, you don’t get a consistent gameplay on him - you just do whatever it takes to actually beat this guy. And on that - I should give Vetex an appraisal because he actually made a hard Boss which you can’t even cheese really. It’s hard to aim at him really, and he doesn’t have bullshit i-frames like Captain Maria does. Just pure AoE spam and that’s it. This is the Bossfight where you actually fight with skill (and your FPS as well because in this fight it melts SEVERELY) instead of cheesing, abusing game mechanics or just memorizing the entire Bossfight so you no-hit them. I’m unsure when will I ever beat him without any help, but i’m asking for advices because i’m an Ice warlord savant with slow ass attacks and I genuinely cant think of proper strategies to win
Calvus was a genuine skill check, he was mechanical mostly, but he still bumped the skill requirement up a bit…
Allanon on the other hand.. +300! +300! +300!
CONSTANTLY WITH THAT AOE ATTACK
AND GETTING STUCK UNDER THE GROUND?!
AND THAT INSANE AMOUNT OF HEALTH PLUS REGEN?!?!
Dude, I tried to fight the man with Oracle, I gave up, so little damage and no time/speed to hit him.
Do note, I beat the jarl at my FIRST TIME, Allanon is just built WRONG.
in phase 1 i kind of just butted my head against him, respawning until eventually i stopped dying. really rough and i thought the arena was a bit narrow.
in phase 2 idk why but i won first try. just kept my distances and he kept missing. spammed blasts, beams, javelins. kinda it
personally i didnt particularly like (or hate) any of the phases, but i also never bothered to learn them unlike calvus.
Dude what, is Allanon just pure rng?
My phase 2 had 2 of those AoE explosions happen right after each other, he damn near teleported around and KEPT doing those AoE explosions, I only won by him getting bugged and not moving.
I could beat Phase 1 easily, he was weirdly fair in that phase.
Apparently if he just spawned and hasnt moved or aggroed since then he can be attacked from a far distance without him attacking
Though he will still fly on occasions but thats not the problem
well i mean, i was the one spamming blasts and stuff from afar, always staying at the side of the arena he wasn’t at (so i could outrange his surge/ray thingy). dunno what he did exactly, he moved a lot but kept barely missing me by the time his attacks reached me.
and it did take a fairly long time, think i landed like 20% of my attacks at best, but i also got hit like twice total so idk
Allanon is solely about keeping a moderate distance and spamming ranged attacks, there is no way for the fight to be of any difficulty unless you’re so underlevelled that you get three-shot by attacks or are playing berserker.
Mages have blast, beam, and some rare/lost spells; Oracles have blast and hound; Warriors have bows and firearms.
Which, mind you, allows you to hit anything from a distance while decreasing the time you’re static for when attacking.
You could also switch to another set (even at the cost of EP) or nullify its defense reduction (which you already should have done if the EP loss is so major that you can’t afford to switch).
You need to cheese him so hard the grill melt itself. Bro is not a bad boss per se but he sure is the kind that make you wonder what happen if he actually decided you not his friend
The first and currently only instance of a player enjoying the Allanon fight is recorded. Said player would later be admitted into a mental hospital, saying they did so for “unrelated reasons”.
