Explanation: I’ve heard time and time again there’s supposed to be a magic reset specific potion in the future but genuinely why, what is the point of overcomplicating this so much?
It ain’t like people using interchange potion just to change build would be forced to swap their magic out, they could literally just pick the same one.
Even THEN I was expecting that potion to release with this update and hoping I could finally switch to a magic I enjoy more on my super progressed file instead of having to start again from scratch.
The lore argument against this got thrown out the second interchange was added so there’s honestly nothing left for a logical reason. (it wasn’t a logical reason to begin with)
Thermo/iron leg warlord has been a hated meta build since release from what I’ve seen and not being able to change magic has does literally nothing to prevent players from choosing it, so what’s the point in this restriction? It has accomplished little to nothing.
This is the last thing between us and being able to completely change our build on a file.
It’d work exactly like it does for mage awakening.
You drink the interchange potion and pick the stat reset, instantly a menu to change your first magic and after you get that out of the way things continue as they currently are.
Plain and simple, no need to overcomplicate things.
Tbh Id imo like to see the basic scrolls more or whatever it is more, mainly because (imo) wouldnt want to see people trying to get bids for it to switch too a high crutch meta like current shadow, light, metal.
Whatever method it is, I just want a way to change my magic, though I will say that it being done through scrolls would allow for certain areas to have unique magic variations and that’d be cool.
IE: Dark sea water, red lightning, bronze metal, ect.
However even then I’d still like interchange potions to be able to swap magics because 90% of the builds players actually use are magic builds and they shouldn’t be chained down as soon as they make their file.
(very few people clicked on a game called Arcane Odyssey to not use magic)
yeah, im not a fan of fighting style and weapon users being able to switch freely while magic users are stuck to what they pick permanently, i think this is a nice way of balancing it as fighting styles are held back by mastery and weapon users are held back by weapon obtaining
Their point is that it doesn’t invalidate files because you wouldn’t be able to jump between builds every 5 seconds using acrimonies like you can WITH files if you choose to progress multiple.
I mean unless you’re super unrealistically lucky, getting interchange potions isn’t exactly fast.
why would anyone jump from builds every five seconds the base reason you want this change is because you are bored with your mains magic is it not? im talking about character slots… can you play 2 characters at once or?..
You tell me, I don’t know why people have like 20 different characters either, but they do, and acrimonies would NOT allow them to do all of that on one file.
Regardless, why should files be the primary way of swapping primary magic when weapons/fighting styles can swap around as they please even WITHOUT interchange potions.
do note you can get the interchange effect from prismatic geodes, which is tier 2 mystery reagent. you use jellyfish flesh, and you get 10 shots to get it
yea, like 2 hours ago a video was posted on YT, i saw it, that a guy made a bunch of those cauldrons and started drinking, got the effect at 2nd try, tho that’s just luck
Ok I just tried and yep that absolutely works lol.
However this doesn’t at all change my view on this suggestion, it just means that if this does go through, it’ll be easier for magic builds to switch the to their desired magic instead of being locked down until they can find an acrimony.
I think this would be the better route to go. After all, we’re getting lost and ancient magics later on in the game, and base magic spell scrolls would be a good way to change lost and ancient magics back to basic ones, and also letting people change their first magic.
