Allow Navy/Assassin Syndicate Members to gain renown from claiming islands, and allow infamy gaining for clan players from hunting/taking islands from N/AS players, and vice versa (they drain infamy if you’re hunted by them)

Currently, claiming islands as a member of the ingame factions is dead useless, and considering the fact that the next update is going to be Clan Island Building, it would make sense for them to have some sort of benefit to actually claiming them, other than being able to use the PVE related features coming with this update. However, because they now gain renown over time from having claimed islands, they should also lose a good bit of renown for having their island taken, around 5-7% sounds reasonable.
The amount gained per infamy tick (5 minutes if I remember correctly) should scale with your total renown, so it’s useful at all ranks.
OBVIOUSLY the numbers are subject to change as i’ve realized that this could be quite bad for high ranks as they would lose a TON
While I agree with the overall suggestion, I don’t think it should scale with rank, as it doesn’t scale infamy based on the clan, however the number of renown should be significantly increased compared to the infamy.
Perhaps high ranks could get a navy/syndicate npc that has to get defeated before having their island claimed so that it’s less risky for them. The higher the rank, the stronger the npc, probably should cap it at commodore/architect though.
what happens when one of these fellas take claim of a island claimed by another clan? I don’t want this to further fuel player shenanigans, and there should be some sort of clan alignment with one of these two or both that can prevent them being able to like reputation and so on.
they really shouldn’t give it the same infamy system, reason 2 will be crazy to police, and for leaderboards we got syndicate and AS and possibly other clans that can take up the space, there would have to be some sort of system like once you get into negative infamy you can’t join the clan for a while? not sure how that would work i’m sure there’s going to be a bunch of loopholes.
considering these two factions are predominantly renown based, it makes sense for that to be involved in some way, i believe how clans lose and gain infamy from hunts/ claiming islands should be reworked too, low ranking players getting hunted and losing just as much infamy as someone high ranked and more valuable to kill doesn’t make sense, in the case they do get the infamy system ( we want that newspaper clan in the game asap… and maybe some kind of alignment with the npc clans for non-npc clans ) then the infamy lost should be related to how high ranking the individual is ( make this the same for other clans too), clan members should be able to withdraw within the limit of how much they have deposited too, lots of clan features we missing out on, a record of previous clan infamy losses ( maybe gains too would be nice but may just be unnecessary). message board…
oh and this brings the issue of let’s say clans hunt this certain npc clan (navy) will they retaliate back? will syndicate favour them? do navy players get told of this persons criminal record with the navy?
maybe you need fame to hunt syndicate and bounty to hunt navy, there’s a whole lot of mess to go through, and this should probably be finalised with the clan update ( we better get that newspaper clan then too, QoL is what makes AO fun honestly, it’s what keeps forums alive too, alot of people that play AO don’t like fighting with others players, more focus on QoL and details would be appreciated
