What would be funnier than getting the death curse temporarily, would be getting it, but your boat sinks so you have to use a fly spell. And then a cutscene plays where white eyes jumps out of the ocean and eats you.
Also the temporary “death curse” should just be a toned up version of the ancient magic. (Like all the stats are multiplied by 1.5)
