So I just got held hostage at Fort Montu.

Y’all know how the saving grace of Fort Raids is how direct PvP interaction there is disabled, with no exceptions? It’s great, and clearly works as intended, though there are some edge cases that haven’t been thought of, primarily with Ships and Radial Combat Tags.

  • Ships currently do not benefit from Fort Raid PvP shields, and as such, can be sunk by anyone if the player currently raiding the Fort and whoever is attacking their ship both have their PvP toggle turned on for when they’re not in the area’s range.
  • The Radial Combat Tag has a much larger range than any Fort does, and more importantly, it takes effect even if the targeted player is in a Fort.

Therefore, anyone who planned to hunt a player who is raiding a Fort can sink their ship, then simply wait within the Fort’s radius. Adranis-Agility and Swim Speed effects won’t apply because of the RCT, Forts are too isolated to fly to or from with a Flight Spell or Spirit Flight, and the player being hunted can’t just leave the server without sacrificing a lot of Renown and Drachma.

There is only one way to “counter” this, which is to use a Tier V Waterbreathing Potion followed by a Sharkrepel, then to swim to the bottom of the sea while throwing Bleeding Potions to spawn sharks. Even then, this is easily negated because of how common Shark Fins are, and can even be an unwinnable situation if the player being targeted is a Mage that only uses Magics that dissipate when used in the sea.

How can this be fixed?

  • Extend the PvP Shield to player ships, unless they were in-combat before entering the Fort’s radius.
  • Heal all players fully after a Fort’s Boss has been defeated, like how a player gets healed when winning a PvP fight.
  • After a minute of the Fort Raid being completed, disable the PvP Shield until the Fort resets, and prevent the Fort from resetting until players have not been nearby for a minute straight.
    • This might sound backwards from what I want changed, but if the PvP Shield is disabled, then whoever is being hunted can actively attack whoever’s hunting them, and vice-versa. Without it being disabled, all the hunter needs to do is circle around the Fort to keep their target stuck; the person being hunted can’t do anything about it.
    • The one-minute cooldown exists to allow players who participated in the raid to collect their loot and prepare to fight.

cool suggestion, but how does one get held hostage at fort montu?

Needs some adjustments, especially to the third fix, but it’s overall a good suggestion that will without a doubt better AO.

The V in Vetex stands for oVersight.

You can also drink a bunch of harming potions to prevent your hunter from getting any credits for your death. It needs some testing as I’ve only done so once and was met with great success, but it should hypothetically work.

To be fair, I don’t think anyone would’ve thought about this, especially since it’s such a specific situation now with the PvP toggle.
