why are you excluding the other parts though, they’re apart of explosion and slam’s kit and that’s what makes them different from one another.
Nothing really differentiates builds from one another other than armor
Lets take a crystal iron leg warlock for example.
They’ll likely be 150 strength 100 magic as that is what most warlocks go (over 85% at least)
Maybe they have a different variation on their crystal. Sapphire and Ruby
There will be literally no other differences in their kit except for attack size and placed/self explosion and pillar/shockwave/sphere. slam/shockwave as well. If you learn how to fight one of them, the other one will be fundamentally the exact same. You can’t go for anything outside that box as there isn’t much else to change. That’s what I mean when I talk about no build variety.
Let’s use deepwoken as an example of good build variety. I could be a medium weapon flamecharm user and there would still be tons of differences in playstyle. One of them could be a spear user, while the other is using a shattered katana. They have the same build at it’s core, but way more thing to differentiate eachother.
having 2 more options does barely anything to increase build variety. I could literally just run both types (AS I DO) on my warlock build.

and build variety leads to even more metamancing opportunities
i don’t wanna have to buy a skill tree reset or just delete my whole save file cause i fucked up by clicking the wrong thing for the wrong build that everyone in the community will call me a shit brained idiot for choosing on my build when it’s either completely useless or exclusively benefits a playstyle that isn’t my own
and besides, AA didn’t have a build system in the slightest, so people who play AO without basic knowledge of builds and stuff would have a major shock
I don’t see a lack of build variety in AO, it’s just up to your playstyle whether you like it or not and how you use your build.
AO skills currently are literally almost identical to each other, shot being just beam and flying slash being just the blast spell and what not.
And Deepwoken has build varieties but at the end of the day you still play the same, block, parry and dodge unless your build is REALLY niche lol. AO and DeepWoken is yin and yang.

You used a specific player type instead of actual variety. Nobody is forcing Crystal Iron leg players to go 150/100, they could go 120/130, 130/120, 100/150, they don’t even have to use iron leg, they could use Basic Combat, they could use Thermo Fist.
yeah sure crystal iron leg players are dumb, but that doesn’t mean that there can’t be some iron leg players who use a different play style.

you are contradicting yourself. I could be a crystal warlock but then I use basic combat, or thermo fist, it’s almost the same as being a flamecharm user and using a different weapon.
