Am I the only one who finds gifting deckhands equipment absolutely miserable?

Complete honesty here, I’ve been trying to upgrade my ship and by proxy my deckhands, but I’ve been avoiding increasing their loyalty as much as I can, because the default UI is just AWFUL for this, you have to look at Every. Single. One. of your items to find what is going to suit them, and it gets even worse when you have a weak device (like I do) and you have to turn off item models and just do item text, so now you just have to try gifting literally every single item you have to try and find the right one, it’s just a complete slog.

Now, I get it’s supposed to be like a lil minigame where you match your items with the deck hand’s style and I think that’s a great idea, but if only instead of having you look at every single item, the game just showed you Specifically the items you can gift the deckhand, it would simplify things A LOT and make it a muuuuch better system to interact with.

What do you guys think?

yeah its pretty bad and hopefully the search bar will make it a tiny bit better

me giving to my deckhand 3000000000 pirate shirts

yeah it is, especially if u dont switch their style to something like knight and have to go throuhg low lv items

spent like half an hour to get all four of my deckhands loyalty up lol

I usually find a tailor accessory they like, and then forge all of them to lvl 50 to make it more valuable so I don’t have to put up with the terrible menu so much

The moment I get the option, I set them to a knight and give them a whole bunch of Iron chestplates from an armorer (then I usually leave them like that because knight deckhands wear full titanium which stops them from dying to dark sea lightning or pirates so easily)

Just set their style to knight and force-feed them with the sheer amount of armor you got from chest looting

Setting a deckhand’s style requires you to raise their loyalty to halfway through, so it’s impossible to avoid dealing with the awful system for 50% of a deckhand’s upgrading process

Idk if I’m the outlier, where I happen to max out the loyalty of my 4 deckhands within 2 hours of me starting, but what I do is pull up the deckhands page on the fandom wiki (it’s better than nothing), paying attention to the styles of my deckhands, then finding the appropriate items to use on my deckhands. You do need a lot of items so gl with that.

But yeah deckhand leveling is a garbage system idk why vetex doesn’t simply show ONLY the items that can be used instead of also including everything that CAN’T be used.

Yeah it’s really dumb, deckhand loyalty should be able to be increased from other ways, like going to the dark sea and coming back with the deckhand still alive.

You are not wrong, it is very ass to do. It is only easy if you have a entire horde of things like I did (basically spamming one numerous item according to appearance) but for those with none of those things would suffer. The UI for giving stuff has like no item filters so I have to look on unsorted garbage that will lag every scroll which is my main gripe to this

It should only show the items the deckhand likes i hate scrolling through my inventory to find the one hat they like
(That or my attention span is fried after looking at brain rot for too long)
