Another Way To Farm A Lot Galleons Without Risks (Thunder Crystal Method)

Short Note:
I won’t be gatekeeping this one unlike my chart method a while back, since this requires at least some competition if there are more than people that finds out about it and tries to farm as well. So yeah, have fun with the info I’m about to give.

Some of you may not know of this but thunder crystals can actually respawn without the need of any thunderstorm spawning. For some reason, they have a spawn area that’s randomly assigned in each server and differing in amounts. The location would also be saved until the server ends, meaning to say you can go back to the server even after you left.

Main problem with this though is that the respawn time is inconsistent, sometimes it’s 15 minutes and other times it would take an hour. One thing to highlight though is that thunder crystals are priced about 150 each when sold to NPC shops and there are 20+ servers, perhaps even reaching 50+ when full release comes out.

So basically this is how farming thunder crystals would work:

  1. Join a server from the list and note down the name.
  2. Look for thunder crystal spawn areas (Each server has at least one so it’s recommended to have a fast ship)
  3. Once the spawn area is found, screenshot your location in the map and log both the location and name in a compilation.
  4. Come back every half an hour on each server to collect thunder crystals.
  5. Once you’re satisfied hoarding, sell to NPC shops for profit.

If you want video evidence of this working, then here it is :

First collection:

Server name and time (Forgot to include it in the first recording)

Second collection:

This time it took 25 minutes for them to respawn and also confirms that they do not need thunderstorms to spawn at all.

Some Extra Ramblings

With this information in mind, there could possibly be a new service that involves compiling all of these locations in each server and players could get to subscribe to have access to the compilations. Servers expire which would result to old information getting outdated, meaning to say players would have a reason to keep their subscription!

Since it’s also a subscription, the price wouldn’t be exponentially high since if you think about it, if let’s say you price it for around 5K and you have 20+ players subscribed to it monthly, you would have a stable income of 100K each month!

Players would have enough time to hoard up more galleons/drachma which would mean that the cycle can repeat itself! It’s literally a good business idea!

Oh streamable isn’t supported, hold on let me upload to youtube instead.

Alright, changed the video format to youtube. Anyways have fun getting rich with this easy method!

i actually knew a little of this but i didnt know that the location is the same in each server thought the game just randomly spawned patches of thunder crystals (i originally chalked it up to invisible storms)

and yeah, every exotic reagent sells for a ton so one thing i like to do is have a spawn at cirrus and just collect everything at the top of stepstones before joining a different server, cloudroots sell for 100 and aeroplast sell for 150 not to mention all of the copper shrooms you get which you can sell on auction and the sky apples which you can use to easily level cooking skill

Yeah to be honest I thought of them as invisible thunderstorms as well but I noticed while farming chests that it look like they spawn in the same location. So pretty much I tested out the theory and it turns out to be true.

If people could have a compilation that updates regularly, this would become really profitable since the amount stays consistent and there’s an average of 15 each area while there’s 20+ servers, then there’s a theoretical profit of 45,000 around half an hour.

my only theory is that maybe when the server first starts they spawn wherever the first storm is and just kind of stay there, may be a bug and either way this definitely isnt intended so it may be patched, gotta abuse it while it lasts lol

though maybe in the future with storm magic..

The first storm thing doesn’t work by the way, tried it out before when I forced a new server and they didn’t respawn even after an hour. I’m assuming this is probably intended (At least I hope so) as an exploration content being some sort of crystal spots.

thats weird, the only thing that makes me think its not intended is because im ps the description of thunder crystals say they form when lightning strikes the ocean, unless vetex was just lazy and made them spawn in batches i figure they’re meant to spawn with storms

only issue that arises with that description though is that, in lore, the permanent storm surrounding makrinaos would be a merchants dream just collecting thousands of infinitely regenerating thunder crystals

Ah, Vetex has an explanation about that. It’s because it’s caused by a different type of thunder, I think it’s caused by a lost or ancient magic but I forgot what it was called.

the only ones i know of are poison lightning, aethereal lightning, and ancient lightning (likely the one youre referring to, its the red lightning from the dark sea)

i assume the explanation is that the dark sea produces them then they drift into nearby sea clusters, in which case yeah that makes sense for both the spawning of them being in pre-set clusters and why the storms in the warseas dont produce them

he should probably update its tooltip in that case

also for them to basically be described as “commonly found in large quantities” is weird to describe an object that sells for a considerable amount of galleons individually

Galleon value go bye bye

can we all just gank the people who do this? we seriously need to create the forum avengers to beat up mfs like this brah :sob:

No it’s not? It’s literally a fact, they are commonly found in large quantities in certain areas, it doesn’t matter wether they sell for a billion galleons or a single one.

im just thinking of it from a merchant viewpoint in the world of AO

why would you spend the equivalent of half a sailboat for a crystal that spawns in batches of 20 everytime it storms? in an archipelago-esque landscape as well (where it would presumably storm very frequently)

not to mention the definition doesnt line up with how vetex presumably stated they form since apparently now its only a certain type of lightning rather than them forming from any thunderstorm

Yeah that’s fair to be honest, but still it opens up new unofficial job opportunities in-game where you reward people for finding the crystal spots in each server :sob: .

Vetex couldn’t be bothered to make storms work consistently so bro just added a bandaid solution I’m cryin :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob:
