As far as I’m aware there’s basically very little to absolutely no info that could really help as to tell what these character’s abilities were, but I wanted to see if anyone would like to make some guesses just for the fun of it. The characters are all Ravennan characters that are all exclusively mentioned in journals aside from one.
General Veridia - NOT Valerii, this is an entirely separate person. She was another general that fought alongside Zaix at the battle of Cassia Town. She’s probably the character we know most about when it comes to her powers as of right now. Zaix’s journal states that she’s pretty magic reliant so we know she could use magic and given the use of “reliant” probably doesn’t use much if anything aside from magic. She’s also won every single sparring match between her and Zaix despite his wave curse so she’s pretty strong. She died against Avery Walker, but she must of done some damage cause Zaix was just barely able to trade kills with him after she was killed.
Octavious(Pre-death and semi-resurrection) - Not too much to go off for him but there is something. The Prince of Thorns was the strongest enemy combatant at the battle of Cassia Town and Octavious was the one who went up against him instead of Veridia and Zaix who seemed to be tag teaming on Avery Walker the whole time. So unless Octavious was just stupidly cocky he’s probably stronger than Veridia and Zaix even when they’re doing their tag team bit. If I’m not missing something this should put him as the second strongest Ravennan behind Nero. Because of that it is extremely likely he had magic. I don’t think he had a curse cause it probably would’ve been mentioned, spirit weapons are very rare and most likely would’ve been mentioned too, and the only way for him to have been a non-magic user is for him to have been the best a non magic user could ever possibly be and that would have probably been mentioned.
Captain Rackham - There’s basically nothing on his powers. Personality wise he seems to have cared a lot about the people working under him and was pretty bored with having been stationed at Akursius Keep where barely anything ever happened. Don’t know if that’ll help with making up what his abilities might have been, but there ya go.
General Oliver - We have nothing. There is nothing to say about this individual other than he was/is a general for Ravenna, was Rackham’s superior, and seemed to hold authority over Akurisius and possibly the military western bronze sea but that latter part is entirely guesswork on my part.
Anyways if you guys just have some guesses about what these character’s abilities could’ve been, fs, weapons, magic, and/or maybe even spirit weapons if you’re feeling crazy please tell me. I don’t need your guesses to be based off of any information especially for the characters we have little knowledge about, just a feeling or even just a random shot in the dark is good enough for me. If you feel like explaining why you think certain characters have what abilities then all the better.
I would be so pissed if I was Avery Walker. Bro was probably doing pretty well against Zaix on the first day of the battle, but then Zaix just ups and leaves and this other bitch comes in so he can’t finish him off and now Zaix gets to rest while he has to fight this new chick who’s even stronger than Zaix. I can imagine how happy he must’ve been when he killed Veridia and knew not only to he kill someone who had interrupted his fight, but also Zaix couldn’t pull the same trick again. Probably still felt awesome when he took out Zaix even though he was dying too and all his comrades were running away. Honestly Avery Walker was a beast he fought Veridia and Zaix for 3 days straight while both of them got to rest before fighting him and still managed to kill both of them. Sure he died too, but that was still pretty impressive.
Since she’s a magic user, I assume a lost - possibly ancient magic or even both? Unless they’re just built differently and slammed curse users with skill.
I’d like to think he’s a Aether Magic user which is why Calvus managed to learn it so early on. Though(massive head canon) I imagine he was a Savant just like Calvus but with actual good stats instead of being average at everything. Which is also what inspired Calvus to train in everything as well.
idk I’ma say spirit cause cool ghost but it’ll prob be magic.
I like to think Oliver was the strongest of the Generals at his time, he kept watch over the most massive fortress in all of Ravenna. As for his abilities? like said there’s nothing. There could be some historical fallacies but i’m too lazy to search anything.
Veridia is extremely intriguing to me. The average curse user should be far beyond a mage, especially the Wave Curse which directly counters magic. Wave absorbs magic energy from people and the environment and weaponizes it against them. So what could Veridia possibly have that beats that every time?
My guess is Shatter Magic. Not only is it a powerful ancient, but with its destructive properties, there’s a chance the Wave Curse might not be able to absorb it easily. Trying to steal Veridia’s energy would just result in his own energy getting destroyed, basically neutralizing his curse’s main gimmick.
Also, Shatter could be thought of as a souped-up version of Slash, so it makes sense that she could put up a decent fight against the Slash Curse.
I wamnt more lore about the “Pirate King/Lord” guy at the center of the Blackreach labyrinth, who essentially was the driving force behind the creation of the Grand Navy

There is a slight hitch with Zaix having no idea how Veridia was always able to beat him and that’s kinda weird her magic had a gimmick that canceled out his cause that sounds kinda obvious. However, Zaix might just not know how it works and Veridia won’t tell him I dunno. Regardless I still really like the idea.
As much as it pains me to say it she did kinda go up against him in a much better condition than he was in. Avery Walker had been fighting Zaix all day prior while she was at most fighting Thorne’s rank and file if not resting in preparation to switch out with Zaix in order to beat Walker. Like she still did good cause she lasted a whole day against him before being killed, but she was fighting him as he was already a bit fatigued.
