Anyone got tips to get good at fps games?

I’ve always been ass at fps so recently I decided to challenge myself to play valorant enough to be at least average so any tips?

can’t help with valor at, my experience can’t go any further than phantom forces

Gain 50 pounds and buy several 10 packs of Mountain Dew
worked for my friend.

just aim right

its in your topic’s title i guess

play them more

drag your moues over your opponent and click

some games you also hold control and drag your mouse down

I’m not sure exactly how much my advice will help so I’ll just shoot for the more general advice.

Playing at a lower dpi or sense is a good way to start, it gives you more control over where your mouse is and it does feel weird to get used to but it will become normal if you consistently use the same dpi/sense. I usually play with my mouse DPI at 400, I haven’t played Valorant in a while so I don’t have a sensitivity recommendation for that game in particular.

Moving your mouse with your arm is better than your wrist as you have more movement range and better long-term health (carpal tunnel and all that).

Having a good trigger discipline like spacing out your shots which help with recoil or focusing on hitting enemies on the head rather than spraying them as soon as you see them.

Some things in FPS games just come with dedicated playtime like map layout, certain agent ability line-ups or game sense. I may edit this with more advice later but idk.

skill comes with practice and experience

just play more and it’ll come naturally

My tips for being good at FPS games (hypocrtitcal because i suck at FPS games) are:

  • If it punishes death, practice caution, always look behind you, don’t do much to draw attention

  • If it doesn’t punish, go crazy, maximize weapon damage and if the highest level weapon requires good aim, simply just get a full auto weapon, doesn’t matter if you being called trash if your winning :person_shrugging:

  • If it is team-based, Check what roles your team is playing, if you are skilled, go for killing the enemy team, if not they always try to accomplish the main goal

  • If anything else, my best tip is honestly just to practice your aim on bots or on roblox (97% of roblox fps players are 7 year olds, if not they are neckbeards that have thousands of hours on the game)

400 dpi? i use 1600 :skull:

although i think since i have the report rate set to 1000 it also makes it slower than at 125

400 dpi feels terrible for me though

play on the highest FOV possible :mariomug: (well, not the highest but generally higher FOVs work well for me)

wtf?

always pick the worst weapons then complain that theyre bad and thats why u died

main random in smash, so you always have an excuse if you lose

shoot and don’t get shot.
simple advice, but it works well.

"be aware which aspect of playing fps you are underperforming in (aiming, tracking, awareness, etc) and actively try to improve these by playing with these aspects in mind, aimtrainers, and playing more

tweak your mouse sens to suit your playstyle

get the highest framerate you can by turning down graphics and/or turn up priority via task manager"
