Just a list of what I consider fairly accurate theme songs for AO characters, based on lore and personality.
- Main Character
- It Doesn’t Matter - Crush 40
- So this will probably be seen as an odd choice. However, the lyrics relate surprisingly well to the Arcane Odyssey protagonist. The whole song is about living by your own feelings, doing what you see is right no matter the consequences. This is the almost the exact same way that Vetex has described the protagonist, as well as the protagonist’s actions in story. The mc has a strong sense of justice and has shown to lack regard for consequences, just like the song says “It doesn’t matter who is wrong and who is right.”
- It Doesn’t Matter - Crush 40
- Morden
- Ramblings of a Lunatic - Bears in Trees
- This song deals with grief, the loss of a friend, and questioning the point of life. All things that Morden faces throughout the story. There’s also the questioning of who you are (something that Morden may struggle with later with the Death Curse) and coming to terms with death. Something Morden will have to do very soon if he wants to actually protect his friends.
- Ramblings of a Lunatic - Bears in Trees
- Tucker
- Icarus - The Crane Wives
- Bet you weren’t expecting to see Tucker on this list. However, this song works really well for him. At least if you look at it from a particular angle. So the original intention of the song is about a toxic relationship. However, the word choice could also work for someone pleading with another to escape from a situation that the singer themselves cannot. Which in the case of Tucker rings true as it was his plan that got Morden and the MC out safely, even while he lost his life in the process.
- Icarus - The Crane Wives
- Iris
- Take Me to War (Live) - The Crane Wives
- This one’s pretty simple, it’s a song about fighting a force much stronger than you. This works very well with Iris, seeing as her whole purpose in the Bronze Sea was fighting against Ravenna. Not much else to say.
- Take Me to War (Live) - The Crane Wives
- Neviro Boreas
- Pompeii - Bastille
- Again pretty simple, civilization utterly destroyed. Easy connection, granted it loses a few points for the “our sins” line when we don’t know the living conditions of Winterveil. Granted Gloam has some rather dark connotations. However, we don’t know if it was the Winterveilans that executed the people in that well, it may have very well been the Ravennans. Overall the song works.
- Pompeii - Bastille
- Prince Revon Caesar
- Little Lion Man - Mumford and Sons
- Specifically after Calvus’s death. This song works really well for Revon’s mental state, filled with self-hate, anger, and grief. He wants to be brave so very badly, but he’s simply not strong enough to avenge his brother. So all he can do is curse himself and his brother’s murderer, all the while blaming himself for Calvus’s death.
- Little Lion Man - Mumford and Sons
- King Calvus Caesar IV
- Icarus - Bastille
- If I had a nickel for everytime a song with the name Icarus perfectly described an Arcane Odyssey character, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice. Regardless, this song works perfectly for Calvus, a man living beyond his years and experience, his pride and foolishness leading to an early demise.
- Icarus - Bastille
What does it mean that Calvus and Neviro have songs from the same artist? Nothing, anyway this is my list and explanations. Agree or disagree if you want, or maybe suggest your own song choices. I am open to discussion.
