AO has probably some of the worst replayability ive seen on a roblox game

Guys is it that hard to read :sob:

i remember having slight fears or concerns over this even before AO’s release…

idk why ur so passive aggressive i’m just pointing out that what ur describing isn’t really an issue with replayability

No I’m pointing out the fact that I don’t play AO anymore and I’ve said that like twice

Also it’s a little ironic you’re telling me I’m being passive aggressive but whatever

then you clearly havent played any roblox games

my name is sir alonne

Not to mention that replaying the story over and over again gets grating too, though unfortunately it feels like the story was MADE to be dogshit because there’s a 500 robux gamepass to literally skip 100 levels and majority of the bronze sea story arc

Im sorry what gamepass lets you do this?? :sob:

It’s not a gamepass but there is a product that lets you ‘skip’ 100 levels forward

are we deadass

We are deadass

This truly was an arcane odyssey..

What does “a new adventure” feel like? The fantasy you’re looking for is quite literally impossible, you will never feel the initial moment of shock and novelty ever again. That’s how experiences work and is why any approach to playing games or reading literature (AO involves both) that prizes this will eventually lead to disappointment.

What has happened is that you can no longer sustain the illusion of self-discovery. That’s a good thing, now you can focus on other things like whether AO is an objectively good game.

Well, yeah. AO is capital and Vetex’s considerations are mostly financial. And, considering that Roblox is essentially Webtoons but for games, the level of creative freedom that is possible on this platform is very low. This is a natural consequence of a system in which:

  1. Financial renumeration comes from views/plays and not individual purchases, and
  2. The commodity being sold comes in repeated installments or versions

The second means that what is actually being sold is the commodity above the individual trinkets being sold, and each individual trinket is just advertising to direct eyes towards that commodity. In this case, each update is just advertisement for “Arcane Odyssey,” which is presented as an infinite well of update potentiality. It runs on hype and each update is just hype for the next update. And since financial renumeration comes from views and not individual purchases, development goes towards retaining interest by all means necessary as opposed to presenting a finished product. All of this is generally antithetical to making very good games or even good art, which is, incidentally, part of the reason why most anime/manga are garbage or become garbage after a few episodes/chapters.

Everything is natural because everything that exists was going to exist. At the same time, nothing is natural because there is no such thing as a normal that reality deviates from. All that exists is what is and what will be. If you mean that this is a structural tendency that RPGs have followed historically which has become crystallized into an industry genre, then I agree with you. But if you are trying to excuse its existence then it doesn’t make as much sense. I know I implied that Vetex was just a reflection of a structural tendency but it’s not like he’s a literal slave to the market, he is capable of not drowning his game in shiny trinkets to maintain view counts.

500 robux skip pass existing says everything about how vetex feels about his own story. you don’t sell a skip for content you’re proud of. the grind being so bad that people pay to avoid it is an admission that the early game is a slog nobody wants to sit through twice. and no data transfer between files means every alt run is starting from zero on a game that takes forever to progress through. the replayability was never designed in, it was just assumed people would do it anyway. they won’t.

i mean why would you wanna go through the same story for the 20th time

Tbh, I couldn’t even get my second file through the Full Release update. It just takes so long to do anything and none of it is inherently fun.

yea no arcane odyssey fills that pirate magic roblox autism suprisingly alot of people have, i think of it as an investment

i invest my time (and money through robux products) into arcane odyssey to become BETTER. it is so undeniably terrible i find genuine reasons to complain, but i dont leave just cause it may get better

i have 14 files (they all have awakenings) and literally hope the story gets a rewrite of some sort cuz i spent so much robux and time on this game

that feeling when I play through a story game for the 20th time and I get bored because I’ve already seen the story 20 times

its not even about seeing the story, its literally just the story not being enjoyable to go through or experience; it would be different if i was like “woah awesome, i get to experience this again!”
