AO hot takes (new)

AO hot takes but its not a necrobump from the one from 2022
I’ll start: dragons are funnest boss to fight

Not really a hot take, people are complaining about the performance whilst fighting dragons, therefore technically not saying fighting dragon bosses is unfun.

My hot take; Full Release was the beginning of something bad, my reasoning is the large amount of bugs, performance being worse, and so on. The Dragon Update performed the identical trend, therefore my stance becomes stronger the more features are added due to excessive feature-creep.

I think all the items and drip are (literally) killing the game. Vetex has mentioned he can’t figure out the issue though also mentions items take a good chunk of memory. Roblox being the garbage website it is likely can’t handle it and despite drip being one of the best parts of the game is likely playing a heavy part in crushing the game

not really a hot take if before FR i had above 140 fps and no crashes, then after it released ive had a consistent drop in quality
aka, constant crashes, low fps, and an overall tank in usability for some game mechanics

if you know me, ive explained it, if not then idk i think you can see the posts ive sent and it should paint a picture of my experience

this isnt my hot take though, give me a sec ill post it

the dark sea shouldn’t apply insanity 24/7 and should instead have environmental features to diferentiate each layer

with dragons, it’s clear that the dark sea is always going to have the hardest content you can go out of your way to do, but it feels so backwards having to make a spare weaker set with virtuous to fight the strongest enemies in the game

lowk i havent had performance changes after full release

Now THIS is a hot take

Although I partially disagree with you to some extent, I don’t think your take is a ‘hot take’ either. A lot of people I’ve spoken to who play AO have complained about performance, bugs, and being disappointed in Full Release. So there’s definitely a lot of people who would be in agreement with you.

With that said, my 2 hot takes which I’ve definitely seen countless people with an opposing opinion is that mage is being used as a scapegoat of being ‘overpowered’ when I would say its relatively balance with a few exceptions, and that the Fleet system was the best feature added to AO only troubled with how it was balanced.

Most people here are PvErs right? Vetex considers this game a PvE game right? So this game can be considered a mostly PvE game right?

Vetex’s stance that there will be no PvP focused updates is a decision that has negatively affected both sides.

In my view, a PvP focused update would focus on making PvP better as well as balancing. Changes would include combat reworks, a 1v1 system, and the famed PvP Toggle.

If this update had came we’d be attracting the larger community of PvPers and we would’ve nipped the ganking low levels problem in the bud. That big boom of players we had in the beginning of AO would still be here.

We would’ve gotten a much better PvP and PvE experience that way instead of waiting until full release for a PvP toggle and no combat rework to be seen.

Oh well the past is the past not like we can change it. This is a hot take because apparently the average Forumer’s IQ decreases by 20 points whenever the topic is mentioned.

calvus and octavious are the best bosses

my hot take: ao is the best game on roblox and its not particularly close imo

if you consider how many items there are in the game, then take into account colour variations AND modifiers… yeah there are like tens of thousands of combinations of armour sets and accessories

AO is my second favorite Roblox game. First place is taken by Entry Point/EP:FC. All the other Roblox games I like are pretty far below these.

My hot take is that the lag in ao isn’t actually that bad. All you have to do is adapt to the lag, which is something I have done to the point where having higher frame rate (35+) actually makes me worse at the game.

yeah there are plenty other enjoyable roblox games, but ao is just special, and scratches a certain itch no other game on the platform does

If you consider 35 a high framerate I think that’s pretty damning evidence that the lag in AO is that bad

i have a 6 year old windows 10 laptop with 2 gigs of storage left, so its more of an issue with my computer than ao being a terribly optimized game

35 FPS is bad for a PC Roblox game, especially when said 35 FPS is shipped with unstable frametimings.

You don’t adapt to a fundamental issue with a game, that’s equal to you saying you give up on wanting anything better.

The lag, is by definition;[1] bad.

  1. <60FPS & Unstable frame timings ↩︎

Not sure if it’s a hot take but:
Gameplay should be a game devs biggest priority, while i am an absolute sucker for lore heavy games i think gameplay is far more important.
Lore shouldn’t be the priority when discussing a feature, i don’t mean it in the sense that if lazer guns would be cool then they should be added in a medieval fantasy game. I mean that lore features should serve to enhanced gameplay and not dosngrade it for the sale of accuracy.
There are a lot of games that achieve a perfect blend of gameplay and lore, elden ring -which i hear is vetex’s biggest hyperfixation at the moment- is an example of that.
I don’t think i even have to list the things in this game that made me think this.
Tldr: Make the game fun first before making the story good.
