AO performance after occlusion culling?

According to @TheFollest, occlusion culling has been released on windows devices.

For those who don’t know, occlusion culling prevents objects, animations, and more from being rendered when they are not in camera view. It should hopefully be game changing for all of us.

My question is, for those who have been online, how significant is the release?

(also pinging @OnionCream because fps is crucial in PvP)

just from sailing around a little bit, i see no fps improvements

ill report back after a bit more testing

edit: SLIGHT fps improvements (ie sometimes being at 100 fps rather than 80, with mine being capped at 120 and my render distance being 250% with max graphics)

so not for macos yet :frcryin:

It might be more noticeable if your computer was already struggling to run AO. Just making sure incase you were running 40+ FPS on AO pre-occlusion.

that would make sense, i didnt really struggle to run it already whatsoever.

That’s probably why :person_shrugging:

You should probably remember, if ao runs at least at 60 fps, then it runs perfectly fine, given that’s Roblox’s default fps cap

im kinda worried if i have a 4070s and im getting 50-60fps in caitara

Don’t take my word for it

Perhaps vetex has to activate it first?

If he does, hopefully he does it as soon as possible. I think it will be very effective the higher your render distance is.

Either Vetex has to shutdown the game to add it or it’s only active in new servers

It should be client sided so I’m pretty sure the whether the server is new or not doesn’t matter. I don’t know a lot about how this works though so maybe I’m wrong.

No difference for me.

The post I linked makes it pretty clear it was automatically added

I’m going to guess this is it, because when vetex showed a preview with it on he had some major performance gains.

same shit as before hasn’t improved anyhting at all and it is even worse at nimbus or when i’m fighting, keep in mind I play at graphics 1

i’m gonna crashout

Unless you have a 144 hz monitor, then it’s noticeably way worse

:smiling_imp:

We’ll have to wait for roblox to improve it

I have definitely felt an improvement, though i still can’t increase my graphics without lagging (I’m stuck at 2)
