The alarm clock rang out. Its beeping became increasingly annoying, flashing bright red numbers in the dark.
Soon, a hand slowly pressed the button on top of it. A soft click was heard. The beeping and lights stopped as they returned to a normal state. Groggy noises came from under the sheets as slowly they came sliding down. Lelantos picked himself up, standing on the edge of his bed as he rubbed his tired eyes. His eyes shifted in the dark, looking at the alarm clock telling the time. “5:36 AM”… God that was early as hell… Guess that was the life of a college student now. Lelantos let his thoughts wander around first, sorting themselves out before he began his day.
He stood up, slowly putting on his fluffy slippers. Picking up his phone and going to the bathroom, he turned on the lights. Flash banged in the process due to his eyes not adjusting to the brightness. “God dangit…” he groaned to himself, rubbing his eyes and trying not to smash into anything. He pulled himself to the sink, opening his eyes to see himself in the broken mirror. Sleep-deprived eyes that tilted downwards, a blank expression on his face that still showed exhaustion, and of course his trademarked messy white hair he had on his head. He had no idea how his hair was still in such good condition with fluff and all…
Grabbing the toothbrush out of the small pink cup near the mirror. He barely squeezed some toothpaste from the crumpled tube. He started to brush his teeth while looking himself in the mirror. 3 prominent scars on his face, one across his nose, one down his forehead, and one from his neck up to his cheek. Many more littered his shirtless body, a frown appearing on his face at the sight of it.
The soft bustling of the city in the morning could be heard. The soft jingles and clicks of a closed door and keys being put away.
Lelantos shoved his apartment keys into his pocket, closing the door behind him with a soft kick. Zipping up his jacket, his hands slowly dug into his other pocket. Slowly pulling out the keys for his ride. The morning was quite chilly, expected since autumn was arriving sooner or later. The wind felt extra soft today, maybe it’s because of the calming grey skies? Maybe the lack of people? You could only guess why it was such a monotone day.
His footsteps sounded as he finally reached his car. Lelantos looked at the beauty that was the silver and blue M3 BMW GTR. God that thing was pretty, the only real valuable thing he had now in college. He unlocked the door with the keys, bending down as he comfortably placed himself in the soft seat. Strapping himself with the seatbelt, closing the door, and inserting the keys in it. Soon the engine started, with a step on the pedal and a switch of gears. Lelantos was already speeding away.
A young girl with medium white hair could be seen waiting on the edge of the sidewalk. She scrolled on her phone, looking through messages. She was wearing some sort of light blue high school uniform, along with a backpack.
The BMW stopped right in front of her and the engine slowly died down. Out of the car came Lelantos, walking around as he looked down at the girl. The height difference was very noticeable to anyone else around the area…
The girl looked up, her grey pupils staring at his with the same monotone look. Until a smile crept up on her face as she threw herself at him. “Leli!” Her voice rang out as she barely wrapped her arms around his torso.
“There there, haven’t seen ya in a while have I Junny?” Lelantos looked down at her, a small smirk creeping on his face like hers. “You’ve grown a bit, haven’t you?” he teased, using his hand to visualize her small growth over the years.
“Oh come on!” Juniper said, moving away from him before giving his a quick jab to his stomach. It was a playful jab, just like siblings always do. “Not my fault you stole most of the good genes…” She said, smirking to herself. She was indeed right, Lelantos was much bigger and broader than her. Yet even with such differences, it didn’t change their bond.
“Come on, get in, gotta get you to your high school.” Lelantos said, quickly moving into the car again, unlocking it as Juniper moved into the passenger seat. He clipped on his seatbelt, doing the same for Junipers. Lelantos started up the engine, pressing on the gas and changing the gears. Quickly speeding off like usual.
The BMW speeded quickly along the roads. Lelantos’s eyes were focused on the road as Juniper looked outside the window.
Soon, the car drifted around a corner as it stopped in front of the large building. Colored blue with huge courts and yards… and a large sign on top of the gate that spelled Arcane Academy.
“I miss this place… or as much as I can miss it…” Lelantos mumbled to himself, hearing Juniper grab her stuff as she was about to leave the car
“…What do you mean by that…?” *Her curiosity peaked, right as she was about to leave the car. Lelantos knew that his little sister’s curiosity was none like others. *
“Oh, it’s nothing, just some old history… and bad memories…” He hoped this would be enough to satisfy her curiosity…
“Oh come on, tell me! It couldn’t be that bad…!” Junpier spoke, ready to sit down in the car again for some good old story time.
He sighed, looking at her with a bit of a stern look. “Junny, you’re gonna be late for your first class. You should get going right?”
“Fineeee…” She groaned, getting out of the car fully as she picked her backpack up from the seat. “You’re gonna tell me later tho, right?” She spoke with a smirk, slightly waving her phone. “Anyways, bye Leli!”
“Cya…” He responded, sighing as he saw her walking through the gates and into a new stage of her life. She grew up quickly, from a little kid he had to protect. To a girl who could probably beat most people easily. He did have to give credit to old man Theos for that.
Lelantos took one more glance at the academy, remembering some bad memories. Before pressing on the gas and quickly speeding out of there.
