dw and a888 have quite of bit of luck involved with them. so do games like centaura and re:infected, if you want any grind to have variation in it then you need to have like… luck???
Frankly the worst argument in my opinion is the dodge reflex quest being predatory.
Like, what? How is an upgrade requiring an optional side quest predatory? I want an explanation for this in particular.

like vetex doesnt benefit much from having people putting time into his game if they arent premium players. ig maybe it could cause it to maybe get put into reccommended or maybe theyll pay for a gamepass if they really want to but like… I’ve played games for extended periods of time without buying things from it

I have fun with most of the mechanics in AO, I don’t dislike essence because it is luck based, I dislike it because it was deliberately made to not be fun.
If I used the same definition of ‘predatory’ that you do, I would have quit this game before it even released.
I don’t think roblox has what you’re looking for in a game, it just doesn’t support it.
The difference is that you lose out on something if you don’t do your dailies danteh, while in AO, nothing is lost by doing something next week instead of tomorrow

daily quests are more predatory because they require you to keep coming back again and again every day otherwise you break the streak of whatever reward you get, meanwhile everything you just listed… you can just do when you feel like it?
you arent on a time limit, you can take things at the pace you want. dont want to grind? literally just do anything else itll still be there. your progress doesnt vanish.
daily quests? you HAVE to do them in the time limit or else well, no more whatever you were working for! oh youre sick? too bad buddy. if daily quests arent tied to a streak then like, okay theyre fine ig you can just do them for a small lil reward thatll help you do shit or smth.
