You’re right, I’ll harass the mod team to give you 10 of every item, a free magic reset, and perma luck 100. I’ll also tell them to make you a level 2000000 savant so you’ll have every skill, AND even be able to beat Martin.
Not enough free items , try again…
I feel like this thread is gonna get too heated when more game developers come here
I’m a game dev lol
though my game is really small and still in beta, I know there is a crap ton of stuff that is luck based in my game. is the game not fun anymore because of it? according to everyone who has play tested it, no. its still a good game.
also, what’s with all the rhetorical, even on some non-questions
if a dev wants you to have fun then they are gonna add new feature your favorite game ofc because most indie devs love their players
Would you rather Vetex and all devs stop updating their games because according to that Reddit post I just read through it also says consistent updates are predatory
wow. as a game designer myself who has probably made somewhat predatory mechanics myself, you really have no idea what you are talking about
@Yrni0 is Moron for not knowing what he talking about
That’s getting a bit mean, keep it civil.
thats not particularly constructive, at least offer criticism if you’re going to insult them
Yrni0, if I had to find a game with none of the things you said are predatory or any RNG mechanics whatsoever and that game still be interesting I’d have to find a game that has:
1: No open world
2: No loot progression system (random loot is predatory)
3: No trading system (players will prey on you and you’d need a loot system for this to work)
4: No multiplayer (outside of a select few genres)
5: No random encounters (random = predatory)
6: No random chance whatsoever in any form.
You are asking to redefine what AO’s genre even is, just about everything would have to change and the game would be much much worse off for it.
SOLITAIRE is predatory by this definition. (it has randomly generated cards)
In conclusion: Your definition of predatory in the context of video games, is dogshit because it encompasses most games ever made to the point where using it as a descriptor is almost always redundant.
Bro has never played a game with side content before
having interesting side things is predatory because they eat up your precious time
it’s always these new players with this ragebait bro
hey, you want an example of predatory? go check that one Diablo game, that should clarify EACH and ALL of your issues in understanding the definition of predatory!
diablo (ex)-fan here you’re going to need to be much more specific buddy that could be multiple of them
I don’t remember which one it was, sorry let me try and find it
Diablo Immortal
A game being predatory means it is “hostile” to players unless they spend money on the game. Take gacha games, most gacha games make it difficult to pull for more characters unless you spend money, that is predatory. AO is not predatory because there is nothing useful in the game that you can get from spending money on it. Sure you can buy more save slots, but you do not need more then three to enjoy the game.
A game being predatory means that it is designed to get players to spend money on the game. Predatory game design has nothing to do with how much time a player spends on the game. It is a money making “tactic”
Newgens smh…
jokes aside, it just sounds like yrnio doesn’t like playing video games
