Awakening II
His heart beat intensely as he ran through the trees, driven by his motivation to take out the crazy wizards in the area. He hadn’t even known what the place outside of the woods looked like, so when he ran out of the enclosure of trees he was in a whole new world. “Woah…”
He was a few inches just above a land of tan…and he had no clue what it was. When he stepped down from the short cliff, the ground he was on…didn’t feel completely stable. His shoes, which were miraculously unscathed, were slightly sunk into the ground. He looked at the tan in pure curiosity. He could pick it up with his hands, and when he did with his left arm it fell through the crevices and spaces through his fingers, like a powder. “What…is this?”
but the unknown powder all over the ground was just the first of the many things he saw around him. Far in the distance where the land of tan ended, was an expanse…of blue. The blue flowed, swished, and clashed with itself. It had the tendency of fluid. “Is that…water? how could it be that…large?” stuck in the large surrounding of water, a structure seemingly made of wood was protruding out. It had silk-like clothes holstered on wood pillars sticking to the structure. “That’s…a…ship? Theos said he crashed here…is that what he used to get here? Is that what people use to travel?”
In the middle of his wonders, a sharp feeling arose in his right cheek. Immediately, we felt pain in his entire right face, something was smashing it into the left part of his face. “AGH!” a brown rock had struck him in the face, pushing him to the powder-like ground. He rubbed his bruised right face, wondering where it came from. “What-What was?” he raised his head, a few meters away from him, was a girl with a yellow shirt, blue jeans, purple bunned hair, and a crazed expression on her face. She seemed to growl after every breath.
She put her arms forward, and an arcane circle formed in between her hands, it had a boulder symbol at the center. “What is that? Is it…earth magic?” the young man muttered. A small boulder came torpedoing out of the circle, and the young man rolled out of the way before it hit him, causing the tan powder in the area to erupt from the area of impact. The young man quickly got up -She’s probably one of those crazy wizards. How do I use my shadow magic?!- The crazy wizard ran towards him, making small shockwaves of tan powder with each stomp. The young man didn’t react in time to do something, and the crazy wizard stuffed his face full of fists, empowering the last one with an earth magic circle. The sound of shattering earth echoed as the young man’s nose started bleeding from the hit. His head hit the soft powder, and the crazy wizard started beating him repeatedly with her fists
The young man tried to beg out but was cut off with each punch to the face. -I…I was too eager to do something…to make a change…I don’t even know where I am…stop…please…why was I too confident? Why? Thinking I could do something, I can’t do anything…I’m useless…I’m sorry Theos. I don’t have any power…no potential…I’m nothing I’m nothing…I’m nothing.- Tears mixed in with his blood as he continued getting bashed. The pain for him started numbing…until…
A majestic stream of water splashed against the crazy wizard and pushed her off of the young man. He had no clue where it had come from, but he was sure it must’ve been magic. He looked at the crazy wizard with a side view, who was on one knee looking at the one who fired the spell. The spell caster hit her again with a final stream of water. The impact drenched the crazy wizard and knocked her out unconscious.
“Are you okay?” the one who fired the water blast reached her hand out to him. She had long black hair, glasses, and peach refreshed skin. She had a blue long-sleeved shirt with light equipment, along with brown pants. She helped him up. “T-Thank you…” he said, his face smeared with blood and tears “Who are you…?”
“I’m Marianna. I come from Eve Island. I came here to train my magic when I encountered another shadow wizard. She was hostile, and attacked me…so I had to take her out. It seems she wasn’t the only one. I think all the wizards here have gone crazy in some way…”
“they have…”
“What’s your name?”
“…” The young man didn’t respond. He had no memory of his name since he had woken up, no matter how hard he had thought about it “…I don’t have one.”
“You don’t have one?”
“Or more like…I don’t remember. I woke on this island without any memory of who I was…or where I came from”
“Hmmmmm” Marianna put her finger on her chin, then she perked up like she got an idea “Do you want me to name you?”
“uh-” The inquiry was enough to almost make him blush “…uh, okay…”
“I say…by the way you look…Lucien! It matches you!”
“Lucien…ok…I like it.” he smiles wholesomely
“Great! Now, Lucien, are you a wizard? I’m not sure…I can sense faint magic energy in you…but every living being has that, magic or not.”
“Y-Yeah. I use shadow magic, but I don’t know how to use it…”
“Do you mean like making magic circles?” he nods “Oh, that’s easy!” She faces to her side and puts her arms forward. “I mean, it could be hard at first…but it’s easy to get the hang of it. Focus some of your magic energy into your arms, but don’t let it go all rowdy or anything. Keep it stable…sophisticated” A water magic circle formed in her arms “Now, this is like having a slingshot reeled back, you can choose to fire or not. If you do want to fire, the magic energy you have bundled up, release it.” a water blast fires out of the orb, splashing against a palm tree that was in the distance. “If you want to call back the circle,” She summoned another orb “You recall all of that magic you have bundled in your magic circle.”
“Ok…” He puts his arms forward beside Marianna and takes her advice. A Shadow magic circle barely bigger than his two hands formed. He fired it out, and it hit the same tree with an explosion of darkness, creating a quiet roar of awful energy. “Wow! You’re a natural! It took me at least 2 hours to learn to fire my magic!” Marianna admires
“Heh. Thanks.” he scratches his hair “Now…I have a quest…I need to defeat all the crazy wizards here.”
“I agree…this island isn’t safe for young wizards if those guys are here…I’ll help you.”
“Really? Thank you. I’ll need it.”
“I came here from the west of the Island, so we won’t have to worry about going over there. Let’s continue east!”
“Ok.”
“Come on!” Marianna runs off
“Wait!” Lucien calls back, making Marianna stop “What is it?” she asked
“What is this…stuff we’re standing on?”
“Oh…that’s just sand.”
“Sand…?”
