Newground Island, The First Sea, Y1854
The boy opened his eyes.
The first thing he saw was the blue sky hanging overhead.
Where am I? he thought.
Confusion overtook him as he stood up and looked around. Around him were tall trees and rocks. In the distance, smoke was rising from somewhere. And he was standing on…
Sand
The word seemed to rise suddenly into his head. And somehow he knew that word described the grainy, somewhat yellow ground he was standing on.
He took another look at the smoke. Maybe there would be someone who could tell him where he was and what was going on.
He stumbled towards the smoke, tripping over rocks and branches. However, he was soon able to keep his balance and ran over.
SPLASH!!!
He felt a powerful blast hit him on his left side. Suddenly, he was soaking wet and lying on the ground.
“What the fu-” he began as he stumbled back up.
And he heard another blast of water flying at him.
He barely managed to jump out of the way before the blast hit a nearby tree. He pulled himself up and looked at his attacker.
A blond girl looked at him. Her eyes were bloodshot, as if she hadn’t slept in days and everything about her screamed insanity.
She screamed a bloodcurdling scream as if she was an animal and lunged at the boy. The boy ran and tried to put as much distance between himself and the insane girl. He ran until he reached the water, exhausted. He looked back and saw the girl running at him, her eyes rabid and mad.
Suddenly, the boy felt something within him, and he rose his arms and aimed at the girl.
And the same circle the girl had made from water formed from electricity in front of his hands. And he fired a shot of lightning at the girl.
The ball of electricity hit the girl directly and with a startling BAM, sent her flying backwards into a tree with a sickening crack.
The boy felt fear fill him. What was this power? he thought. And then he heard someone behind him.
He turned around. An old man was standing a small distance away from him. He looked at the boy with kind, perfectly sane eyes with some curiosity.
“Who… are you?” the boy asked.
The man looked at him. Confusion was reflected in his eyes.
“My name is Theos,” he said with a hint of confusion, as if the boy should know who he was.
