~Pax’s Perspective~
“We’re in,” I say the moment the kid leaves.
Theos’ eyes go wide with surprise before he recovers.
“To be honest,” he says. “I expected you to take longer but perhaps there are some thing I don’t know. I will not try to deter you, but first, I will put you through a series of trials. 3 to be exact.”
“Alright,” says Will. “What’s the first one?”
“Well, first I would like for you to to take out 300 bandits from Oblitesco.”
“… What?” I ask in shock.
Humor flashes across his face.
“I’m, as you youngsters call it, kidding of course. But there is something I would like for you to do there. Take out one bandit camp, and you will pass the trial. Meet me at Oblitesco.
“Well I must be going now. And another thing, keep a low profile in Oblitesco and don’t cause any trouble. It can get lawless there.”
He’s about to exit when a man is suddenly sent flying through the door.
“WHAT THE-!?” yells Will. We run to the door to see the black-haired kid in a the middle of a fist fight with a group of thugs.
He elbows one in the face, a sickening crack sounding on impact. He kicks another one between the legs and sends a third one flying. Soon, it’s just him and another thug.
“Fuck you,” says the thug.
“You’re the one who started it,” says the kid cooly.
“SHUT THE FUCK UP!”
The thug creates a water magic circle and aims it at the boy. He doesn’t move as a blast is fired, instead slicing through it. That’s when I see something weird.
The boy’s hand emits a semi-transparent white aura as his hand moves towards the ball of water. The ball of water shifts and envelopes his fist.
“What?” says the thug. “How!?”
The boy clenches his fist and looks at the thug. There’s something cold about his eyes. Something cold and unforgiving.
“I had a good teacher,” he responds.
He lunges at the thug and punches him. The thug is sent back with a burst of water.
He looks around and spits on the floor before walking away.
I look at Will. Shock is written all over his face.
“I sensed magic energy,” he says. “But that kid isn’t a mage. What the fuck is he?”
I look around for Theos. He’s gone.
“Where’s Theos?” I ask.
“Probably finishing his conversation with that kid,” Will responds. “C’mon, let’s get the ship ready.”
“We should help clean up.”
“Y’know what? Yeah, we should do that.”
