Evening, Oblitesco
~Pax’s Perspective~
I walk around the harbor before looking at the brig from earlier. The ship floats peacefully in the water. Onboard, members of the ship’s crew walk back and forth, standing guard. One stands in a platform high on the ship, above the sails.
The ship looked big when it was passing by, but now it looks huge. It’s definitely bigger than our caravel.
“Oi kid,” says someone behind me. “If you’re done looking at our ship, move it.”
I turn around. Standing there is a dark-skinned man with short black hair, his arms crossed.
“Yeah,” I say. “Sure.”
I walk away from the ship and make my way back to the inn we’re staying at.
“Y’know, I was wondering when you would look for us,” says someone behind me. “Didn’t realize you’d go as far as to literally stand in front of the ship. I literally saw Josh do a double take while standing guard.”
I turn around. Avery stands there, a small smirk on his face.
“Hey Avery,” I say. “How’s it going?”
“Good,” he responds. “I saw you on that caravel. You were looking at Pollux though.”
“Pollux?”
“Castor’s identical twin brother. He looks a lot like him. He’s basically Castor if he was more mellow. The funny thing is that Pollux is technically older than Castor but he’s looked up to Castor his whole life.”
“Damn,” I say. “Must be nice to have a twin.”
“Well, they’re extremely close, so that’s cause for worry. If we lost one of them, it wouldn’t just deal a blow to us, but to the other twin even worse most likely. Pollux is more of a support guy, making potions for us.”
“We should spar at some point.”
“Well, we’ll see about that. Maybe we will. But this is true AG territory. Sure, the soldiers on this damn island are fucking corrupt, but it doesn’t hurt to be cautious.”
“Right. Well, we have something planned tomorrow anyway, so see you around.”
“Yeah. Same here.”
Avery walks away to the ship. I walk to the inn.
We waited for Theos the entire day, but he didn’t show up. He must’ve had something come up. I run to the inn, ready to tell Will what happened.
Meanwhile, Eastern 2nd Sea, Arkovos Island, Amerios Town
~Theos’ Perspective~
I stand in front of the body. An old man lies dead on a table, his family around him.
“What happened?” I ask.
“I don’t know,” says his daughter. “He said he was going to take a walk over to Bellen Town to get something. He didn’t come back so we went looking for him. When we found him, his face had a look of fear and it was as if his soul had been sucked out.”
I instinctively tense up at those words. Acheron. He was responsible for this. That damned monster.
“I must go,” I say. “There are other people that currently need my help. But I promise you, I will find the cause of this and take care of it.”
I leave the house and begin to fly away to Oblitesco, where my hope for the future lies in wait.
