Arcane Adventures: Book 2: Chapter XLIII

1 hour later

~William’s Perspective~

I look at the map Castor lent to us. Pax and Landon sit next to me as I run my finger across the map.

“So the Rebel 25 will take us back to Oblitesco,” I tell them. “We’ll take our caravel and sail to the Southern Arena down here.” I drag my finger from where Oblitesco is drawn on the map to a circular island east of Altavista. “After that, well… uhh…”

“We’ll figure that out when we get there,” Pax says.

“Um… yeah, sure,” I reply. “We’ll do that.” I turn to Landon, who’s been quiet the whole time. I snap my fingers in front of his face. He looks at me, snapping out of whatever he’s thinking about.

“Oi Landon, what do you think?” I ask.

“Um… about that,” he replies. “Castor told me where the Altavistans are hiding.”

He points to an island in the northeast corner of the map.

“They’re all the way over here. Castor plans to take the Rebel 25 there. And well… I need to know if my brother is alive.”

We go silent as we let Landon’s words sink in.

“Well,” Pax begins. “The problem is that we’re supposed to meet Theos at the Southern Arena. And I don’t know about you guys but I don’t want to keep him waiting any longer.”

“I know,” says Landon. “And I know that this is important to you guys. But to me, there’s no longer any reason for me to go with you guys. No offense, but-”

“How about this,” Pax interrupts. He points to an island labeled Judgement Isle on the map.

“We’ll go to Oblitesco. That is 100% happening. When we get to Oblitesco, Landon will stay with the Rebel 25 and go to his people. Me and Will will go to the Southern Arena to meet Theos there. We’ll meet here, at Judgement Isle, if Landon decides to join us. When the two of us get to Judgement Isle, we’ll wait one week for you. If you don’t show up, we’ll leave and you can stay with the other Altavistans.”

“I think that’s a good idea,” I reply. “What about you, Landon?”

“Same,” he agrees. “C’mon, let’s go talk to Castor.”
