Arcane Adventures: Book 2: Chapter XXXVIII

~Pax’s Perspective~

“Ugh,” I groan weakly.

I slowly open my eyes. All around me, people are fighting. What’s going on?

I attempt to push myself up but fall back down. I feel weak, tired. My head is ringing. Everything’s blurry.

I blink a few times. My vision clears. I look around in a daze. The Rebel 25 are fighting Emerald Skull Pirates.

I try to create a magic circle. I barely form a shape before it flickers out. Shit. I don’t have enough energy.

I try to push myself up again, but I can’t find the energy to do anything. I look up weakly. A battle is raging in the sky. A light mage and a lightning mage are fighting each other.

I feel my vision fade and I lose consciousness again.

~William’s Perspective~

I dodge a mage’s attacks before sending a slash at them. It misses as the fight rages above me.

“Fuck you!” I yell. I lunge at him as he prepares a magic circle.

Someone grabs me and pulls me back from the attack.

“You trying to get yourself killed!?” they yell at me before doing the exact same thing. They dodge the mage’s attacks midair using aura before pummeling him with their fists and snapping his neck.

I see Pax, lying there, not moving. I run over and shake his body.

“Pax!” I yell. “You ok? What’s going on man? Talk to me.”

He doesn’t respond, dead to the world. I check his pulse. Still there. What’s going on with him.

“William, take him below deck!” Castor yells at me.

I run to the entrance and go below deck, closing the door behind me. I run down to the sickbay and put Pax on a cot.

“What the fuck happened to him?” Pollux asks.

“Don’t know, but he mentioned that he used his spirit weapon a lot while trying to get Landon over here.”

“Damn it,” Pollux swears. “Arch! Get over here. This kid has spirit exhaustion.”

“Motherfucker,” Arch yells back. “Can’t you see I’m trying to prevent someone from bleeding out right now.”

Pax groans unconsciously. Pollux sighs.

“Alright then, I’m no medic, but I’ll do my best to help,” Pollux says begrudgingly.

“Thanks,” I reply.

“Get the fuck back up there,” Pollux tells me.

I run back up to rejoin the battle.
