I have an idea about flight mechanics in Arcane Odyssey. So please bear with me.
Remember, how islands cut off after a certain point, we could have players levitate up to a sky limit on the island allowing them to freely move around as long as they are with the islandâs boundaries. If one goes beyond the boundaries, they will slowly fall until the skill deactivates when touching the sea. And they canât use it again until they get onto solid ground or personal ships.
The dodge reflex issue with the flight mechanic would have to be thoroughly examined. A 10-second delay after every use may be recommended. We canât always have players spamming dodge reflex in the air.
For consumption and energy regain during flight, the skill would constantly be sapping away at the playerâs energy bar, but very slowly. Recharging their energy manually would take a little longer but would be a necessary balance to the gameplay.
To obtain said mechanic, I think it would be appropriate to get it from a quest somewhere in the Sky Hall story arc or as a side-quest in the Nimbus Lands. Just like the quest from Rill Hendrix, the one that gives the dodge reflex skill. Also, I believe it would be a great skill to have so that falling off the sky islands will be less annoying.
Please do not judge harshly, I just want to help give ideas.
Iâm pretty sure its genuinely just going to be WoMâs flight but with a cooldown (solid reminder that cooldowns did NOT exist in World of Magic.)
thus, easily countered, and not very effective till tiered up or boosted by armor builds.
(Cancelled by taking damage, long windup, barrels through your energy like a tank going through a wall.)
Maybe it will be a little bit different. I believe being canceled by taking damage takes away the fun of it, and it sounds kind of annoying.
Itâs a move with a 10 minute cooldown, itâs 100% something you will only use for traversing
maybe not a 10 minute cooldown? I kind of want to see the mechanic used in some form of pvp/pve.
i can see the lowest the cooldown being ATLEAST 3 minutes.
I doubt the spell would have much pvp usage
Even ignoring how it cancelled while taking damage, it would just be too hard to aim while flying
Maybe hover spell could do something like that though if it was given enough speed
Iâve seen flight mechanics in other games that corporate attack skills, it shouldnât be too hard. Especially with AOE attacks.
