Arcane Lore Questions

Can any human create ANY new magic using hecate shards?

How do humans create new magic types using a hecate shard?

If any human can create a new magic type through the use of a hecate shard, then why do some humans choose to mutate into already existing ones such as gravity or phoenix?

If mages have extended lifespans, does that mean mages have more spirit energy than non-mages? Does that prove the magic superiority theory?

Does apotheosis have a spirit counterpart?

I know most of these questions can’t be answered but i want to theorize anyway. I’ll add more questions if I remember any I had

ok the third one already has an answer, lame

presumably yes

unknown afaik

unknown like above but reasoning for the first question may answer this question as well, just we don’t know yet (patreon members might if it was dropped in chat and just not publicly shared)

no, magic energy acts as like the catalyst that causes people slowly die, so being a mage makes it so you’re able to cycle this energy out via spells

its like everyone is poisoned but some are able to temporarily remove the poison, this also means that the more spells you use/energy you exhaust the longer you will live, and this also also means that you could be a mage but if you never cast a spell you wont get an extended lifespan

in cases like enizor, his time left is increased but he won’t live to hundreds because he’s already spent a majority of his life being “poisoned” by his energy

not that we know of but theoretically it could be possible to imitate it if you have enough intent and understanding of how it works

mages like allanon and iris probably mutated into flare and phoenix because they’ve been taught or just had it in their bloodline, because I doubt kid Iris would find a hecate shard, same for Allanon who hasn’t left skyhall in 67 years

well the original question you posed was that why, through the use of hecate shards, would someone ever choose to mutate into an existing magic

though now that im thinking about it, i think hecate shards in lore are only used for new magics, and existing lost magics are instead learnt/awakened on your own given you were trained or have it via bloodline

but i forget tbh

because they probably didn’t use a hecate shard, but rather mutated on their own into an existing mutation

i mean if thats what you meant by the original question then yeah that is indeed a valid reason

i kind of interpreted it as them using a hecate shard but choosing to mutate into something already existing

i found out they could do that after already having asked the question so the question didn’t really make sense, that’s why i cut it out

Isn’t magic energy literally just physical energy though? Iirc running out of magical energy basically means you’ll be on the verge of passing out for the next few days until you had enough sustenance and rest.
Is the secret to long life then just keeping oneself at the verge of a coma by constantly ejecting energy?

they’re separate but affect one another

a mage who expands their energy capacity isn’t suddenly going to have the stamina of a seasoned runner by extension

we wish. That way, mages wouldn’t be getting turned into a sponge by bullets.

They can just make wall

if your caught offguard then your dead for sure (I’m mostly just joking though. I believe the combat system can still work lore-wise).
