I’ve been playing since World of Magic, and even then, I saw how different the game was from other Roblox games. Even the likes of Blox Fruits couldn’t compare to the vibes of World of Magic, but for the longest time I couldn’t place my finger on why…
…until Arcane Odyssey finally came out. That was when I realized, while the game is strictly available on Roblox, it certainly doesn’t feel like a Roblox game.
There are games out there with a lot of effort put in by up-and-coming developers, like Deepwoken, Doors/Pressure, and even non-serious games like Item Asylum. However, each and every one of them still make it clear that they are, indeed, a Roblox game. But with Arcane Odyssey, the vibes are completely different. It feels like a genuine MMORPG, with passion put behind it not only in its gameplay, but its story, worldbuilding, and artstyle make for a unique experience you can’t really find anywhere else, on Roblox, or really anywhere else. There’s no false advertising, no microtransactions shoved down your throat, just a game. A really fucking good game.
With this comes the double-edged sword of its community. Because the game feels much more like a traditional MMORPG, and less like a Roblox game, the community tends to treat it as such, setting a much higher standard for it than other games like Deepwoken would have. Vetex doesn’t have the privilege to mess up, because the community won’t let him. The passion of a creator is only as powerful as the community around it. Haters gonna hate, that’s a fact of life, but none of our personal grievances with the game should get in the way of being a genuinely good and welcoming community. Abraham Lincoln ganked you with a 2k damage ball bearing to the gut? That’s your problem.
Developers make mistakes. If they didn’t, they’d all be billionaires. It’s our job as a community to uplift them when they do. Hell, uplift each other dammit. At the end of the day, we all want the same thing. A damn good Roblox game- no…a damn good game.
You can snub my post entirely and wash it away as “Just some bs from the Baddest AO NPCs guy”, because I’m not making this for you. I’m posting this for those who genuinely want to see this game blossom into something even more fantastic than it already is. Personally, I don’t give a damn about optimal gameplay styles, I’m a fucking berserker main! I just want a genuinely good game with a lot of passion behind it.
Sure, the dialogue can be corny, every game has its fair share of dialogue like this. Sure, some magics and abilities are simply better than others, but in a game with literally TRILLIONS of possible build combinations, that’s a guarantee. Sure, some of y’all need to take a shower, but without sweats, who else would 100% the game with fully optimized builds and stats, while simultaneously exploring every corner of the known world and find out lore we never could have even tried to discover? They sweat so that we may shower.
But at the end of the day, what we have here is an amazing game with genuine passion put behind it. I don’t know when Vetex will be able to recover, but I wish him well in these trying times. In the meantime, we will band together as a community and show that even without an update, we’re proud of this game.
