some times you must accept that you only get one chance.
shut up mortal little boy you do not want thw smoke…
what a big irony lol
spoken like true Maplestorm
honestly the guy who got banned should have AT LEAST checked the punishments before just thinking “eh this game is boring anyways and I’m more likely to take a month break from it then actually play”
Great suggestion
one problem is that in that year they could just make an alt and get more progress, why wait lmao
unless they exploited with headlesses or whatnot then thats just a skill issue
macros aren’t exploits, they’re basically just an evolved auto clicker
I do not quite understand the moderation environment. But is it possible to turn exploiters who are knowledgeable in this area to your side and thereby find the weaknesses of the game’s protection and then solve them?
Macros don’t let you do things impossible in the normal game
thats what roblox did when they partnered with synapse x. the only problem is that most exploiters will abuse that for their own good, gatekeeping some information, or staying selfish because of something they cause long ago (take rb1 for example)
Rip.
Ofc. But what do you think about: You can simply ban the exploiters in AO and wait for them to an make alt and continue to exploit, or you can put up with the disadvantages you listed and get at least some information from them in return for some relief in their punishments, depending on the severity of their actions and the level of information they offer in return?
You might say that in this case they will continue to exploit, but they will continue to exploit anyway, right? And in the case of cooperation with moderation, they will make life difficult for other exploiters by providing you with information. Thus, they may leave some hidden paths for themselves, but they close other paths for others, just as others will do it to them leaving everyone pathless in the end.
Byfron wiped out most of exploiters anyways, exploiting on windows is no longer possible now and soon it won’t be on Mac either, leaving only mobile
Most games aren’t on mobile so exploiting is almost completely destroyed
lmao no
At the moment, I am interested in the theoretical possibility of such actions. You can take it as if that is, an example from the category: “What if Byfron had not appeared.”
youre asking if we should
a: allow them to exploit again on their main with no repercussions
b: allow them to exploit again if they want, but face repercussions because their main has been ‘deleted’ (what we are already doing)
yes. but their punishment is all their data being gone due to their main being banned. what we hope is that they come to see that if they exploit again, their data will be wiped again… so on.
will they? it entirely depends on the exploiter. in my eyes, there are probably 3 different types:
one who exploits for their own enjoyment or to harass others. these wont care if they get banned or not, instead immediately create an alt to continue. they wont cooperate, and will probably be toxic in most cases.
ones too lazy to progress so they will exploit to skip progression. these are the ones most likely to try appealing and whine how they never have time and they ‘love the game’ and ‘wont exploit again’
- however, we wont appeal them because who knows if they might just exploit again in the future and get some legendary weapon without anyone knowing. if they truly learned their lesson, then they should accept their punishment for exploiting and not exploit again. if we let them off the hook, they might not learn, get banned again, and whine some more.
ones who dont read the rules or who dont realize the scale of what exploiting does. these will probably appeal as well, saying that they didnt mean it. which has a small chance to be true, and these are most likely to not exploit again.
if they continue to exploit, ‘leave hidden paths’ as you said, then all we need to do is ban them again. all their data is wiped, and now we know what to look out for.
as for harassing others, or ‘closing paths for others,’ that relates to what i said above. theres nothing we can do to stop them from doing this, apart from continuously banning their alts and hoping they eventually get tired or bored of constantly creating new accounts.
as for ‘leaving everyone pathless,’ thats simply impossible, unless exploiters find a way to instantly crash all servers or wipe all data. while that may have been possible before filteringenabled, with byfron being around its basically impossible.
essentially, theres no reason for us not to perm exploiters and not accept appeals. look at any other large game and tell me they dont do the same thing.
honestly ur problem since you exploited shouldn’t even exploited in the first place if you want to play the game again
its permanent. just make an alt, play on that and dont exploit.
It seems to me that we are still talking about different things. But I won’t prove anything or explain a second time what exactly I meant. If you think that what you are doing now is the only and most effective way to deal with this problem, then so be it.
Then it’s no wonder they got banned using that free ass exploit definitely a honeypot
