I think part of the problem is that these things did get questioned but never properly got addressed. Pretty much every time someone said âHow did testers not see this as a problemâ it drives us insane because it would be an issue that weâve been complaining about for ages and it just never got addressed.
As soon as all the late game mage stuff got added Iâm pretty sure it became unanimous that mage was overpowered, and size as a meta caught on around that time. The issue was not that ânobody caught on,â it was that it was never focused on or the changes werenât enough.
Up until now we never did the coordinated document thing very often, it was just a once in a while thing.
âYou had 2 yearsâ also isnât really a fair characterization considering things were changing constantly. It was more like âyou had a few months and a few opportunities every here and there,â which I can understand still warrants criticism.
This also doesnât include the fact that there were other issues we had to focus on as well, like making sure you canât 3 shot people with beams or instakill people with Crystal conjurer.
Yeah my bad, loner, but now Iâm going to associate shadow with AOâs IRS. Something that a certain conqueror has to obey.
So yall didnt bother making a tester public document until shit hit the fan for 2 years?
ngl shadow magic as the IRS makes perfect sense
they come out of nowhere to collect the taxes of citizens, then vanish back into the darkness⌠taking those funds and bills and using them for who knows whatâŚ
The order is actually just the tax collecting agency in AO trying to find a better way to collect taxes with magic (theyâre why everything we sell is 25% itâs actual value, theyâll tax our cargo runs next).
Although enough of this considering this is a serious topic.
I inquire you to think about how a public document would be impactful on a game where less than 100 people have access.
As for private documents, as we said every once on a while but not frequently. Balance was never as focused on up until now. If it had been, we would have done collaboratove changes a lot more often.
Then why wasnt it?
If you cared about amethyst conjurers not one shotting everything
Because balance patches are done very infrequently.
Itâs crazy how we do this thinking itâs actually gonna be beneficial and yet all we get is people crying.
Thinking aint actually trying them out and putting a big X on a problem
Game is in early access to presumably balancing would fall under one of the things that would be reviewed during said early access through the usage of the sheer quantity of players.
MY FUCKING POINT!
Yeah itâs hard to do more than put a big X on the problem when balance patches were done like once a millenia
testers test and report, but its ultimately up to vetex to decide when he wants to push out the changes. sometimes vetex has accepted suggestion then just not do anything about it for a month bc hes working on other things
itâs just useless, which is also bad
Okay, then donât touch it, nobody is getting their lives ruined by an unviable aura option
bursting aura is just gonna be âif you grab me you lose the whole fight lolâ for 40 seconds.
So it has a use in deterring grabs Is it useless or not lmfao
nah he means that it basically entirely disables fighting style and rushdown builds, and most people dont care about gimmick abilities like this and just run power/resistance auras so it wouldnt make a big difference to remove it.
basically no one uses it (theres better auras) and when they do use it, you just win automatically against like a quarter of the builds
its best without bursting
In the vast majority of scenarios itâs useless and in certain scenarios itâs mind-bogglingly stupid.
This is not a hard concept to grasp itâs like if I added an ability that oneshots you only if you have Fire-Thermo combo. Itâs useless in all aspects except one case in which itâs OP.
after this patch let bro work on his game ![]()
