Arcane Odyssey v1.13 Balancing Changes WIP

Seeing 90/160 Mages getting removed is nice. Seeing the Pulsar nerfs is nice. I’m a fan of the nerfs to Aura as even though the downside of removed passive energy drain isn’t massive, it’s certainly not negligible and at least provides a tangible downside in exchange for the buffs you receive, and those buffs have now been lowered.

I know that self-Explosions are receiving a size nerf when used in durations higher than one, but my god is fighting someone using Metal with their Ultimate Art as a 2-5 cast self-Explosion irritating. They hug you or just wait to damage trade and nuke your health for 600-800 damage, rarely giving enough time to escape the AoE due to the presence of terrain destruction in this game (please at least remove this shit at Munera, getting stuck in the ground especially when it’s clientside is so far beyond annoying, I thought Vet would’ve learned after WoM arena).

With the current state of the meta as far as average HP goes, higher duration Ultimate Art self-Explosions have the damage to kill off of almost one spell on heavier magics. I’d say they’re heavily punishable when missed, but that would imply Fighting Styles or Weapons have any options to truly capitalize off of their endlag without getting nuked instantly by the 300+ damage blasts that will inevitably come out in retaliation for daring to get close to the zoner class lol. I think that they could probably use a look-over as far as total damage goes.


Why would you completely remove this aura, I know I used it because its fun to make non-meta niche builds. Why not just let it stay if its not unbalanced?

agree with this, i see no reason to buff/nerf/remove it in any way, it’s not hurting anyone being in the game.

Because it just doesn’t make sense for Magic to have. It’s the Zoner route. It shouldn’t reward you for hugging players. It’s ass right now but if it was ever significantly buffed Fighting Styles would practically have no counterplay.

Looked into the post and all I generally see is some good changes like pulsar nerfs(they had some really stupid AoE even without any size buffs, seriously they were nuts, and that’s coming from someone that uses the spell), then like 2-3 nerfs to my build comes in(aura nerfs(also nuts for light, literally makes all attacks beams at some point with minimal endlag) and mages seem to just be locked without any alt buff atm with +200 points cost in magic spells for 2nd magic)

Light getting a stacking effect sounds cool though, too bad I don’t think I have insta-hits anymore :frowning: and it might just be a conditional 5% attack damage buff instead

How does it not make sense, the only other alternatives I can see people going are either resistance or (more likely) damage aura because these give direct buffs to all combat interactions.

Going bursting aura is sacrificing one of these pivotal stats for a more indirect bonus of extra magic size same as how going speed aura is sacrificing extra dmg for possibly more dps. Why do you think it would do the game better to remove potential build diversity?

I’m not asking for it to be buffed-- it can stay “ass” as long as it just doesn’t get removed from the game.

I feel like pulsar should get a heavy nerf. You saw that it was banned in tournament. Its size and damage should be nerfed.

Yeah it’s kind of dumb to remove it, it’s not unbalanced and removing it serves nobody
All it would do is just annoy anybody who uses it

Yeah, but the problem is that it’s useless now, and if it gets buffed it becomes impenetrable to close-range playstyles. I think it’s better to just scrap it.

I actually use bursting aura a lot, it’s really useful during pve against groups of pirates and also useful when i’m farming Carina since she’s always close to me. I’d hate to see it go, personally

There literally should not be any downside to aura. Level 150 is coming soon enough same goes with focus. All fighting style damage should be buffed by 10%
